"Trying to solo Eve Online is like trying to solo Facebook"
(EVE Online creative director Torfi Frans Olafsson)

The whole article can be read here:
This is Why I Never Could Get Into EVE Online

Sounds good; but not being on Facebook, I wouldn't know.

Shenanigans... every noob ninja-looting lvl 4s knows you can do well while solo.

You can do pretty much anything solo, apart from fleet PvP/Sov warfare (obviously) and higher class wormholes. Tedious stuff like mining, PvE or maintaining POS will be a bit less tedious if you do it with some others, though.

Actually think it say one fundamentally thing about Eve, and about something everybody on the forum is talking about - Why it is that so many new players quit after a short try at playing this game.

They are coming in, expecting to play a game but don't realizing that they have to play the game.
There have been much talk about how to change the game to make it easier for new players - new tutorials etc. but thats just making change for a game but not much talk about how to make change for the new players to get into the game.
Think CCP needs to focus more on that aspect too, as it (the switch) doesn't come automatically.

BTW: You're sitting on the forum 24/7 - you have no life to waste, so stop crying.

Now excuse me, as I'm going to watch 6 hours of Eve TV.

Fixed it for you.

Sadly, such a poor example to use, and yet, so very fitting. Facebook, the epitome of faceless thinking and emulating an automaton-like mentality is the example for some who can only parrot what they hear and not come up with their own thought process within Eve. I think some resist the anti-solo mentality becase it exists. Free-thinkers, as it were, those who do not need the herd to do what they consider fun or profitable.

Somebody should introduce Torfi Frans Olafsson to Chribba.

Did he just say that there is one thing you couldn't do in the sandbox?

While I get his view, I definitely do not agree with that statement, it might not be optimal choice but soloing surely is a very valid type of play style, all depends on your end goal.

But of course, despite that, the interaction is a big part of it of course, and for that sake not going full solo is very much encouraged, because the community is awesome.

I think we should clarify what we mean by solo play. Do we mean that solo players don't cooperate with other players, or that they don't interact with them at all?

One of them is perfectly fine in this game, the other is not.

You can't play this game on your own. You're always logging onto the same server as other people. You don't have to choose to team up with people, though.

I don't play that way, but big part of the fun of EVE for me is seeing the crazy things that other people get up to. Some people can just enjoy playing with the market or what have you. It's not playing the game wrong, it's just playing it differently.

Even "solo" players interact with other players, there is no escaping it. Every time you sell your mission loot or ore, you are selling to players, every time you buy a new ship, or gun, or mining laser, you are buying from players.

Unless you do nothing in-game except for flying around in an Ibis, then you aren't playing solo.

EVE = Central Africa Online... In Space.

Hi-Sec is the poorly guarded UN Refugee Camp.
Low sec are the guys in trucks with machete's.
Null Sec is the warring paramilitary groups that call themselves freedom fighters.
Wormholes is the towns so small there are no roads, maps or law.
