Faction Launchers vs T2 Launchers

so yesterday I was in the help channel and thought I knew the answer and ended up being WRONG, at least according to both EFT and Pyfa

The Questions were:

a) Do T2 Launchers still get the ROF bonus from the Specialization skill even if they are firing Faction ammo and not T2 ammo.

The answer to this I'm pretty sure is yes.

b) but the follow on question was, is it better to use Faction ammo in faction launchers or in T2 launchers.

Initially I said, T2 launchers for the speed and obvious cost. But after looking at it my Spec 5 HML's are still slower than my Caldari Navy Launchers by about .13 sec.


So, T2 launchers even with maxed spec skills are slower than Faction launchers? but the Damage increase of the T2 missiles makes the volley/dps difference?


What recommendation would you offer to my buddy that wants to fit a missile ship with best possible mission running/annom power? I still said T2 launchers with t2 ammo even though there is a range and signature penalty. But perhaps I'm wrong

T2 launchers with T2 missiles should always be your goal.
In most cases the NPC you are shooting are within 100km and a Tengu or Caldari BS is not going to have a problem launching T2 missiles at that range. Drake will have targeting range issues but think the missiles will still go the distance if you fit a sensor booster with a range script.
Only time you really need to switch to faction or T1 missiles is because of explosion radius vs sig radius of the enemy.

Oh wow, great thread. I did a quick search and got less information than I wanted., and not to mention some of them I would have necro'd if I posted in them.

However I should have looked at more of them, since the information I was looking for was obviously there.
