Similarly, a DUST 514 player could trigger an event from the ground and do something spectacular in EVE Online.

Here's what I would like to know. CCP has placed a lot of emphasis on the fact that they are not adding pay-to-win to Eve. However, Dust will have microtransactions. Dust will have pay-to-win. Dust will also heavily influence Eve. How is this not introducing pay-to-win to Eve?

feh, I said this months ago

all it takes is finding the right pay-to-win squad of dusties to make your gains for you.

I imagine there will be a brisk market for console players with liquid cash, daddy's credit card or aur, Best equipped dust bunny corps going to the highest bidder and whatnot

welp, people wanted an isk sink....

I seriously doubt Dust 514 will have the quality necessary to force other, more competent FPS developers, to copy cat and change the way those games are made.

If Dust is like Incarna I don't understand what you are worried about you got atleast 15 years before it's functional.

Also Eve has always been P2W. PLEX, alts of all sorts, voice comms, caps, probably leaving out many things.

Do not assume anything above this line was typed by me. Nerf the Truth, it's inconvenient.

In that case, what’s to stop an EVE Online veteran blowing my corporation out of space?

Brandon: We have some rules of engagement that ensure nothing drastic happens without some kind of fair warning and time to prepare, this is basically carried over and expanded upon from large scale player-driven warfare in EVE Online, where sometimes users are coordinating battles involving tens of thousands of players at once. Additionally, there are things that you can earn or build, independently in DUST 514 and / or EVE Online, or collaboratively between the two, that will mitigate those scenarios.

Sounds pretty cool, actually. One could almost call it innovative.

It's unlikely that CCP succeeds in delivering a game that integrates with Eve on a meaningful level IMO. Not too much to worry about.

Buy plex.... turn plex into isk.... buy a bunch of Super Caps and Super Cap pilots
Pay to Win
Sure u can do it other ways... you can earn the isk through the game... but you can already Pay To Win.

Now if your trying to argue that paying to win will be the only way to win with Dust... I'll just laugh and walk away.

This. However one difference remain, this system makes everyone happy considering those who buy the plexes on the market save up some RL money which they obviously deem more valuable than the iskies used to purchase the PLEX

How is this different from EVE?

Interesting, why it is frowned upon if I spend my RL cash for PLEX and then a supercap fleet, but it's OK if some worthless unemployed scrub spends 18 hrs/day to obtain the same ?

In both cases we use our best out-of-game assets to gain ~in game advantage~, right ? Twisted
