Supercapital Advice

Hi,

Getting into a SC soon and would like to learn from other peeps mistakes rather than by myself. Looked everywhere for a super capital 101 but can't find.

I have a holding toon, and every necessary skill associated with it to Level V apart from Bomber IV and Calibration IV.

Know about the ship and standard fitting configurations however would like to see if anything haven’t thought of.

Things to cover:-
- General travel
- The actual switch with a holding toon
- Engagement advice
- Tactics used by enemy, i.e. bumping/bubbling/focus pointing
- Other advice that may be difference to me getting through in one piece or trying to salvage it with my orca (and losing that no doubt) Big smile

Cheers,

Gsy

Never ever assume you fly a normal carrier and jump to cyno in vicinity of a station ;-)

I'm sorry to be a douche but if you do not know these things you should probably not buy a super.

You know you're being a douche, you even write you're being a douche, so why be a douche? Are supercaps some kind of secret that should not be discussed or asked about on the Eve forums? Get over yourself.

Really.. A super is probably a serious candidate for "If you have to ask, don't fly it" comments.
Sometimes we all need a douche to just say it how it is.

That said:
#1. Don't post to the world that you have a Super! There are people who, just by reading this thread, have added you to a watchlist, researched where you live, how big your corp is, friends, etc. Killing supers is an art, a game all to itself. And there is a whole culture in EVE that plays the super game.

Trust: Don't jump to a strange cyno. Don't let some noob with cyno 1 put you somewhere you don't wanna be. Don't join random fleets and let some spy get a warp in on you.

Solo: Just don't.

Jump!: When you land you will have lost like...80% of your cap. (I forget the exact amount) This is when your EFT tank don't mean ****. You are in serious trouble at this point, and a fight has not even started yet.

Switching ships: Do it alone. In a deep safe. Scan for probes, then eject and switch. You can keep a ship for the holder toon inside. Cyno fit or whatever and let him fly ahead to the next spot.

Cloak: Mount one.

Prison: You're in one.

Skills: You need more.

Bat phone: Every one has one.

3rd party: Wirox, Chribba, Darknesss, Grendell, Sohmer, Iceman62. (Spelling) The point is, use a proven 3rd.

I did not possibly cover everything. Watch some youtubes to see this and that from pro's.
Good Luck. A super is a great accomplishment, but also a great responsability.
All of them are nice.

Somebody has to assume the role of Captain Obvious.

He may be the most annoying of the Avengers, but he's the most essential. He's most often found in the tactical room of the helicarrier, pointing out the obvious flaws in things. He's why the world isn't run by Doctor Doom!

I look forward to killing you in the future.

Also, for some actual advice, Holding alts are an awful idea.

Also, the reason why there isn't a "Supercapital 101 thread lol" is because people who do use supercaps want people who can't figure them out themselves to have a disadvantage.

This, very much this.

The fact that you are posting on a public forum asking these questions tells us that your corp does not have the infrastructure in place to support you owning one.

Well, I don't fly supers and I'm interested in how they're flown, so the cookie-cutter response "u dumbass post on forumt" is annoying. Have a discussion on it... it does no harm whatsoever.

Erm first off you really, really need Jump Drive Calibration 5. More so than any other skill, actually.

Second off, the best place to get advice is from other supercapital pilots in your alliance. I see you're in Northern Associates, so I know for a fact you guys have friends with supercarriers. Find a few, buddy up to them, get them to tell you their secrets.

They're much less likely to try to screw you than some random person on the forums.

Having a super secret super alt where i almost lost my nyx to goons with 20% armor remaining ill give out free pointers.

Things to cover:-
- General travel
Cyno Alts everywhere. scout your systems , look for other active cyno's/blotches on dotlan and scout them so you dont get rofl droped on and Diaf. or travel with your alliance super blob.

- The actual switch with a holding toon
The **** is this..get a toon that can fly a super only dont go switching your **** around on different toons or your gonna get it stolen pretty quick. TLDR , Alt fly's the super your main fly's a triage archon.

- Engagement advice
If your new to a super. DONT ******* SOLO ****. But,
If your going to solo some ***** JF or ratting carebear you better have some pretty good intel to make sure they arent bait. Never hit the same area twice.
There's safety in #'s
Dont be a ****** and drop on subcaps , it'll bite you in the ass.

- Tactics used by enemy, i.e. bumping/bubbling/focus pointing
Im pretty sure you wont ever use your super in an actuall fight so meh.
Best advice , ALIGN TO SOMETHING THAT ISNT THE PLANET , BELT OR SUN. (use moons)
Have your alts make safes so you dont get rofl catched by a sabre on a moon or planet.

- Other advice that may be difference to me getting through in one piece or trying to salvage it with my orca (and losing that no doubt) Big smile

Have multiple fits in your cargo.

Gank Fit (Point, web and they better be officer)
General combat fit (usually dont need points or webs)
OMFG IM GETTING NEUTED BY 500 CANES Fit (passive hardeners and cap rechargers, and a bible so you can pray to your god of choice that you arent about to lose your super.)

Hail Satan.

Thanks for all the posts guys, some useful tips confirmed thank you.

Don’t get me wrong, I have talked to peeps about this and also have a full understanding of the physics (or the games interpretation of physics) of eve, however, as with life, usually if you don’t ask the right questions, you do not get the right answers. As shown by the ‘they have your name’ and ‘looking forward to killing you’ in this thread, there is always a lot of testosterone flying about and sometimes the more embarrassing stories get lost in the male bonding ‘chest thrusting’ when lads get talking to each other.

Now looking for those more ‘unique’ instances that might have occurred which you can communicate in the ‘ happened to a mate’ format if you know what I mean 

Cal V on the list before Bombers V for sure.
