Planning on nullsec exploration. Help?

Hey guys!

So here's what's up: Recently I've heard my friend talking about his nullsec exploration. He isn't in a null corp and does it with 2 accounts, and he's usually in highsec. From what he told me, he uses a harpy on one screen to scan and tank 6/10+ complexes, and a talos on the other screen to kill everything. So he takes all his stuff out to an empty nullsec area in a transport, and drags along 2 giant secure containers to put his stuff in. (ammo, and then later faction loot.)

So I decided I want to try that out for myself. So here's my questions:

What's a good tanking/scanning ship for one alt?

What's a good minmatar DPS boat for this? (I could use a talos but I don't have t2 guns for it)

How long can you leave a ship or secure container abandoned in space?

Should I use my transport to take a seperate scanning frigate and tanking frigate? how much space will I need?

That's all, any other information is great aswell :D

you can possibly tank in a covops ship, as long as there are no webs in that plex and use anything that has enough dps to kill battleships before you get bored to death.

secure containers stay in space for 30 days after the last time you acces them. ps don't leave ships abandoned in space. these can be scanned down

Thanks, how much tank do you think I'd need to fit on a scanning frig? I know my friend has lost his harpy before, and he must have over 150 cap stable tank...

Will a covops or assault ship fit in a giant secure container? That way I could take everything up at the same time, with a scout.

This would obviously be the best idea but I'd rather not spend that much isk atm.

Just out of curiosity - in what space are you intending to do it? ( pirate faction )

Lol you probably want to locate me out... But I'm thinking somewhere in angel space.

Uhm...what you said was basically this : "Some day I will be plexing somewhere in those ~150 systems in NPC Angel null space"
That's not a valuable piece of intel even for someone, who would like to find youLol

I asked because my experience is limited to Serpentis and Guristas null so I didn't know if my advice will be actually valid.

Well, you could still try to use a locator agent if you really wanted to lol...

But what have you done as far as exploration? It's almost the same thing I would think, besides different resists needed and different drops...

Tanking with a frig in angel null will not do.
They use a lot of painters, so sig and speed tanking wont do and your frig gonna get raped by missiles pretty fast (painters were always a pain for me and i was flying a loki). An assault frig could do it, if fitted properly thanks to t2 resists (i think amarr ones would be the best for their resists, but not sure), you could try a passive shield setup if you dont want to micro too much.
As a dps boat, what you can take depends of what you're willing to lose. A cinabal is kinda good for angel rats thanks to its speed and tracking, and it has a lot of gtfo abilities in case you get caught. A sleipnir has massive dps as you dont really have to tank it but would cost you a tad more if lost ....

It's not that easy actually.
Different factions == different sites ( sometimes very different ) + different ewar (webs/neuting/tp ) + different rats ( not only damage type but also damage projection ).

Just because you could do it in one space doesn't mean you will be able to do it in another.
Serpentis null space for instance is easier than other spaces because of minimal ewar and most rats are short ranged.
Guristas is easier when you have speed+sig tank.

It's also about range - in some sites you need to destroy station in final room of the complex, that station tends to tank a lot ( too much for any soloer ) but it may be out ranged in some cases ( needs at least 50km range ).

And the list goes on....

To sum up - spaces are not equal, they require completely different setups and tactics.

The idea is definately to use an assault frig, and also I'm not exactly attacked to angel space, I just happen to be closest to there. Other space would take some jumping around, but then again, being close to Jita may be a good idea as far as my loot is concerned.

As far as my DPS is concerned, I'm really not to worried about getting caught but I'd like to use a ship that is cheaper. I'm thinking a hurricane should do nearly as much as a sleipnir.

assault frig + tier 3 battlecruiser sounds pretty effective.
