Primae....Why would you?

After reading a couple of posts about the new ship colour schemes, I was doing a trawl through all the EVE ships to see which ones look they would be worth flying now. You read the posts about how good certain ships are, you take a look at it and realise that no way would you want to cruise down the space lanes in something looking like that (insert name of naff ship, probably Gallente) even if it can kill 99% of all known ships. After all number one criteria for what ship you want to use is not how many guns it has, but does it have go faster stripes, chromed exhausts and furry dice :-)

But thats getting away from the point of the post. I was looking at the Primae and can't figure out why anyone from CCP thought it was a good idea. I remember checking it out a while ago when I was getting into PI and couldn't think of why I would use it then either. Also I can never ever remember seing one on any of my travels around EVE.

So trying to figure out the answer to two questions.

Has anyone ever figured out a use for it?

and

Why would anyone build and try to sell 50 of the things?

Wonders if it should be made the punch buggy ship of EVE.

You don't build Primaes, they are a gift from god.

i regretfully chose it as a "gift"... thought I could find a use for it.

NOPE. Any industrial can do what it can do. Unless you have NO industrial ship skills, no use what so ever.

reprocessed it.

A short time after I started playing, someone gave us two of them. This is what we did:

It was given as a gift by CCP IIRC for something. You may or may not be able to build them

They are 100% useless if you have any of the racial hauler skills trained to level 1

There isn't a need for a PI ship. The only thing I could think of is if the ship could act as its own customs office. But then, that would negate the need for a PoCo...

I was actually tempted to check the Mineral Payback to see if it would be worthwhile buying them up and trashing them.

Then I realised life was too short :-)

I found a wonderful use for my Primae...

I named it "Primae Pinata" , I put 4 cargo expanders in the low slots, and I filled it with Slaves, Dancing Girls, Wine & spirits, Holoreels, and other such party favors. Then I flew it to Amamake and watched the fireworks.

Fun was had by all

The sad thing about this is, I actually like the colour scheme :-) wonder if CCP could be sweet talked into swapping it for the Noctis one.

There was a problem with the game one time where the servers were down for multiple days. If memory serves, CCP gave people free SP and a Primae as a way of saying sorry. Later on, the Primae was also offered as a free gift if you selected it.

I am pretty certain that it cannot be manufactured and it more of a "Hey, look at what I got" type of ship. Also, as previously stated, it has no skill requirements, so if you make a PI alt, you could ignore all Spaceship Command skills and just use one of these.

But yea, as already been said, mostly just to look at.

Yeah after one of the earlier comments, I checked for a blueprint. There isn't one. Thanks for everyones input. It was really bugging me why such a useless ship was in the game.

You scam people into thinking it's a noctis

But honestly the only REAL use the primae has is for trial accounts to try PI because they can't fly proper industrial and the frigates and cruisers they CAN fly don't offer a whole lot of cargo space.

Other applicable uses are to load it full of booze, drugs, and hookers, and leave it in a POS bubble and use it as a RP party destination.

Seriously, does no one remember it as a free gift leading up to the Tyrannis expansion? It had a cargo hold for PI stuff and the model was reused for the Noctis which came out during Incursion.

QFT...

I have four of them. Don't do PI anymore, but when I did try PI out, I used a hauler like everyone else.

Same use as for the Echelon, Zephyr, and Apotheosis: a memento.

No-one would because no-one can. They can try to collect 50 of them and try to sell them, and the reason for doing so would, presumably, be to make money.
