What would make eve, really polished?

As long as they don't make shield effects like the old Star Trek TNG bubble effects. Those are lame. Better to have just old fashion shell/bullet damage effects.

To really polish combat:

1) I'd like to see differentiation in the deathblows. Something like:

- killing someone with missiles, the ship explodes
- autocannons, the ship gets shredded
- artillery , big holes blow into the hull, the it ruptures
- etc.

Then let me play the deathblows over and over and have a big old ****.

Here's my three.

1. Ship designs that are actually attractive and aesthetic, not ugly abstract sculptures. Ugly ships in a game which such good graphics is like buying a Porsche and then painting it with yellow polka dots.

2. Some more useful solution to WH space Dscan than just spamming the mouse button for hours at a time. You know they have had automated scanners since then 1940's right? They can't find a better solution to this in the 34th century?

3. Better projectile and hybrid effects: Lasers and missiles effects are great, but hybrid and projectile effects are not done well and sloppy effort.

1. Bring back convoys, give pirates something to attack. Either by nerfing JFs or more regional clustering of advanced materials that requires more transportations across new eden. Or both. Yep, definitely both.

2. No more neutral hauling alts. If you trade stuff to a character outside of your corporation, you should pay a little fee- let's just say 1 isk- per unit. Giving a freighterload of minerals to your npc hauler alt would thus become prohibitive. Alternatively, you could commission that stuff to an alt for free in a sealed container as a courier contract. People running courier contracts should be flagged according to the corporation they are working for as long as they transport the cargo, possibly making them legitimate war-targets for that time.

3. ph...just add some stuff. stuff is always good.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

1) Finish V3 on stations so I stop going blind upon undock in Amarr.

2) Make Amarr V3 a little brighter (not washed out though...) while making Minmatar darker (as they look rather bleached).

3) lots of other little things in this thread...

What would in my opinion make EVE "polished"?

1. rework terrible parts of the UI (especially corp, POS and S&I interface)
2. find an actual use for CQ
3. ability to record and view replays


General changes I would actually like to see (as that seems to be the question most posts here answer):

1. rework terrible parts of the UI (especially corp, POS and S&I interface)
2. perfect invulnerability is anti-EVE: remove the ability to light titan bridges inside POS shields, remove the ability to use warfare links inside POS shields, reduce invulnerability timers to match the reduced session timer
3. fix module activation delay

1.) GUI that doesn't make me want to kill myself

I have to think about the other two for a moment.... hmm..

2.) Make ships visible in space, you know what I'm saying? FIghting crosses on the overview sucks.
3.) Dragons. Yes, exactly, dragons.

Eve too complicated? Try Astrum Regatta.

2. Allow characters to cross-dress.

3. Conscript all new characters created (or maybe all characters active) to join fleet war and fight to achieve a certain level before being able to leave and start a new life.

4. Because of 3 make hi-sec 100% safe.

5. Because of 4 reduce hi-sec areas.

1. Remove spreadsheet in space, replace it with an ergonomically smart and intuitive UI (seriously, this is not the 80's anymore). Inventory window is the most used interface in Eve? that's BS (no offense to the dev), overview and their child windows are.
2. Replace the whole newbie tutorial with a better one
3. More balanced power projection in nullsec while keeping the sandbox element

1. More camera options. Give me some cinematic options for fleets, battles and ships.
2. The damage system they are working on now.
3. Solar systems that make sense from a modern physics perspective. Use knowledge on how solar systems are formed and use that in the game.

1: An improved Q&A so crap like the inventory from hell doesn't reach Tq

2: A more involved Q&A so if they fix a bug, like recently with the bombs taking no damage that after the fix not another bug rears its ugly head -> bombs took all damage.

3: Devs that implement serious game changing mechanics should at the least have a logged 2 year EVE 'fly time' so they *know* what they are doing or about to implement and have it bug checked themselves (UI, target painting Ttans and more nice stuff like that come to mind).


I don't need more fixes right now, I want that the stuff they put up on TQ is thoroughly checked and working from the start and not in a pre-beta stage. Then it should be polished enough.

1. True RPG aspects in EvE, like visit some planet delivery package to npc - player, while this visit a local bar drink whisky or beer, wach chiks in futuristic night club-citys, or do a mission in random planet like people form Prometheus movie ;) if not possible to visit planet, expand WIS and open this damn door.

And now seriously.

1.UI.

2. PvP improvments, instant or more dynamic pvp, instead of 4 hours fiting and looking for items fits and after this 5-10 sec fight because of alpha strike-blob.

3. Bounty system needs some love after few years worse mechanic in game, yes add bounty on somone who can kill own pod make no sense, how to do this seriously no idea, but here on forum a lot topics about this... Proper working bounty mechanic should push people into hunt and place bounty on criminal.
