So, what got you started with EVE?

Someone asked me if I "really" wanted to play a game people can loot, scam, steal, frame, kill, grief you without reprocussions.

My reply "Where do I sign up?", I was sick of people in Everquest saying they knew a GM and that they get me banned for "X" stupid reason that even our carebears won't complain about here. So being allowed to play how you want without being forced to play nice is quite nice.

Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to scam you or use you.

I came across this story and just had to try a game where such things could happen.

Got tired of WoW a couple years ago and was checking out Massively.com for some ideas on new MMO's to try. Came across the "Eve Evolved" column and read about 10 of them. I was intrigued enough to give it a shot.

Got through my 14-day trial quickly enough and then subbed. That was a little over 2 years ago, but I've only been actively playing for about 12 months. The rest of that time has been running the training queue and pwning fools in other games.

Years ago when I finally got high-speed internet I wanted to try an MMO. However I knew WOW was rumored to be like online crack (addiction-wise) so decided to try EVE since I loved the Wing Commander and Freelancer games. Woops! Not only can Eve be online crack - it's space crack!

I was looking for the next installment for Privateer (Wing Commander universe) and Googler around a bit. Was a little at the disappointed lack of joystick flight, but everything else was rocking. I think I didn't even bother with a trial.

Been playing ever since except for a break during the summer of rage when I tried to find something else like eve...

No dice in finding something else.

I honestly feel like I just read fifty shades of dumb. --CCP Falcon

When I flew my rookie ship into low sec for the first time..

What I saw a battleship 100 meters away from me in a fight for it's life. While initiating warp, trying to escape the gatecamp.. a torpedo was launched at the battleship..

The following explosion engulfed the side of the battleship and since I was so close to the behemoth of a ship.. it basically lit up my entire screen. I got away safely but thats when I told myself.. "Yep.. I'm subbing to this game."

Let's get the ball rolling: For me, I believe I saw one of those rare adverts way back in the day. First MMO I ever really played, and here I am 6 years later, excluding a few months of "refresher quits."

My boss told me I should stop working so much and interrogated me about my video game tastes until he concluded that Eve would be a good fit. Then he made it part of my yearly review. Despite not being the best boss I've ever had for day to day work, he most certainly banged that one dead on.

I was searching for Eve Laurence porn videos and ended up here....

j/k

A friend told me I should try it because it was more of a challenge than WoW.

I hate WoW now.

I believe I started first char somewhere in 2008, I think I was watching you-tube and then the EVE commercial was playing. At first I though they were advertising an upcoming space movie or series, when clicked on the adv it was actually an MMO. Started a paid account after 2 days of trying to figure wtf was concord and how and where to dock :P. I had 2 awesome noob adventures:

1. Tried to shoot Concord as nothing else was available to lock in the system.
2. I thought that via destroying pod you dock in station lawl....

Unfortunately I burned out quick after like ermm 2-3 month of missions and quit, then made second account as miner/indy and bought 3rd account when PLEX came into play, It was grrovy to mine in hulks and 1 Orca back when the strip miners were awsome baseline.

Then quit again cause of negative null experience primarily boredom of lack of targets.

The final come back started with selling off 1 PVE char and 2 other miners, now down to 2 accounts and trying to recover from EVE bank meltdown and high sec losses maybe 8 bill or so to recover lol.

I had some great time while investing some good folks out there in EVE helped me out :).

EVE defently caters to poeple who do not want to gear grind and passive training system works perfect. Though I like sometimes WoW PVP as it takes me few days to catch up only :p.

T'Elks manly physique got me in to EVE. Big smile

Just kidding, sorry T!

I actually got in to EVE when I moved in to a shared house. Sitting in my room one evening I could hear my housemate upstairs in his room cursing about something very loudly. All I could make out clearly was "WARP YOU *BLEEP* WARP, GOD DAMN YOU *BLEEP* *BLEEPING* *BLEEP*"

I used *bleep* there for good reason, the language was extraordinarily foul. But it piqued my interest, being a Star Trek fan I wondered if it were something Trek related. SO I trudged up the stairs to see what was what. He answered his door looking rather annoyed and immediately apologised for shouting, then explained he was swearing at his spaceship.

That was back in 2004, and I haven't looked back since Cool

I was playing Entropia Universe and some people started a conversation about Eve ( was back in January) and how cool it is. They were making comparisons to space in Eve vs Entropia...At some point I said I'd give it a try and my first reaction...bloody hell, only few seconds between stargates? In Entropia you need 40+ minutes to travel 50 AU. And then I was hooked and never looked back.

There was a bunch of us playing a sci-fi mmo game called Jumpgate back "in the day"...a lot of players came over from that game to here. Few of us beta tested, and were hooked immediately even if the code base was poop on a stick. People always pine for the old days, but they really forget how unstable the game was for the first 3 years.

Sadly Jumpgate Evolution was canned, and rightfully so as bad as it was turning out to be. They actually had you run over powerups to your ship in space....puke.
