Is nullsec too violent? Offer a way to enforce NRDS.

I dunno, they have a very good reputation in terms of looking after their members, probably the best reputation of any alliance in the game. And it is one they seem proud of.

Plus they're pretty good in terms of sticking by their bro pacts, even if they do seem to reset TEST twice a week.

That would take away much of the effort of keeping yourself your own space, witch requires people and organisation, and would also be counter productive for smaller entities who at some point should be able to do "stuff".

I'd rather see pop in station specific agents giving WF missions requiring to go somewhere (closest enemy sov) pop a couple guys but no other reward than add value to local alliance tenants sov upgrades
Even thou I must admit having GSF rifter rats scrambling/webbing and spamming local with crap or dropping scammed isk would be hell fun

Trust me, it's more than twice a week. Oops

TEST resets them, not the other way around. :P

NRDS is already enforceable, there's merely no reason to do so since due to 0.0's lack of industrial capacity, its gameplay is centered around controlling resource access.

Although +1 for improving the standings system to make implementing NRDS more functional, a common complaint from CVA.

Whilst I agree with the OP in a very general sense that it'd be nice to enforce NRDS I'm afraid in deep Null its just not a possible thing.

you will always get roving gangs of "bikers" coming to push around the passive NRDS folk who don't want to fight.

I do however think that if you wanted to enforce a NRDS environment you'd have to use your own payrolled policeforce who would camp stargates and do stuff that the NPC police do in High sec.

I think to offer fully protected areas from unprovoked ganking in Nullsec works directly against the extra risk/reward you get from being in Nullsec in the first place.

If you were to nerf the anoms and sigs to that of a 0.5 system and add in NPC police (sigs et al become weaker because of police presence messing up their ability to settle and make better straongholds (ala sanctums)) then maybe i'd come around to the idea.

tl;dr
If NPC Police - Make rewards comparable to 0.5 HS

If not happy with that idea - Pay your own police force.

you can pay for someone to protect you, but i guess it's too much to ask for you to give your money to someone else so you can make more in complete safety :D

this is a problem i keep running on with majority of 0.0 corps still, bears expect to be safe for free. you recruit pvp pilots in your corp and dont give them anything in return for sacrificing their ships for you, most of the time their own. not to mention pvp isnt exactly very rewarding nowadays.

The reason NRDS is nearly extinct is not because there is no way to enforce it. The reason is that, in EVE as it is, it simply doesn't make sense. Historically every attempt to create a "safe haven" or "freeport" or whatever eventually collapsed either from within, or due to being unable to defend itself.

In contrast to trade hubs of the present, or galactic empires of fiction, there is nothing to be gained by opening your ports to anybody. Not in EVE where every resource is freely available on the open market in Jita. There is no real "rarity", no regional export products that would be worth risking opening your doors to get. Even with the infamous OTEC, you don't see people smuggling undercover convoys full of technetium to sell it to other alliances - tech is still traded on the open market.

In EVE as it is right now, there is simply no reason at all to pursue a NRDS policy - other than the roleplaying aspects. Meanwhile there are many obvious downsides to is - and there would still be even if you introduced literal CONCORD to alliance space. Even CONCORD won't stop people from gathering intel, getting warpins on your mining operations, or even simply opening a cyno to bridge in an enemy fleet.

If its player controlled then it has to be player policed. Players will never warp to the site of a conflict happening god knows where in their territory within any kind of a usable response time. Having learned not to trust anyone in this game, I'd suspect they were all dirty cops anyway. Null is supposed to be the lawless wild wild west so I would say its working as intended.
