Howdy everybody ^^,

As the topic says, been away for quite some time and wondering if missiles are still the way to go for missions. Or maybe guns are on par nowadays? Been waiting forever to fly those fancy amarr ships into missions. On the other hand; this char is heavily invested into missile skills so......

Let me know, thanks!!

Missiles are still excellent for PvE, but so are turrets. If you're skilled deep into missiles, use those because you'll probably get better performance from them than low skill turrets.

As for Amarr ships. If you are going up against Sansha or Blood Raiders, you'll do well. Against anything else, your performance will be subpar.

Thanks for the reply. I'll stick with my caldari missile boats for now then -_^

raven navy and tengu are way up there among the best mission boats. so much so that i contemplate skilling into cruises in spite of having a nightmare and mach.

I should buy an Ishtar.

If you have a Nightmare and a Mach, don't bother with a CNR.

Guns. Machariel, Vargur, Nightmare, and even the Kronos or Paladin.

edit: Also, the Golem is meh.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Don't forget there are fun Amarr missile boats. Not as many as Caldari, but still....

But for all the 'oomph' missiles bring, the lazorz are still far more fun to watch. Especially when you load up as many 'different' crystals as possible and blast people with the rainbow while yelling 'Suck my lucky charms, bitches!'.

Counting volley is overrated, believe me.

I'm having more fun with my railgun Tengu than I had when it still sported missiles. And I didn't even rig the thing for guns, nor am I using gun implants.

So, in other words, you are choosing to make your life more difficult - i.e. making things take longer. Cool. Have fun with that.

Yes, volley counting is boring. No, that does not make rail fitting a Tengu the right answer. You want a little more excitement, train for a ship that is designed for rails... or just fit HAMs... counting volleys matters less when you fire every 3-4 seconds.

I love missiles and caldari ships for missions, but for some enemies like Sansha or Amarr, Caldari ships are too vulnerable, so I cross trained and use a Sleipner for the level 4s against those enemies. Caldari-Minmatar cross training will cover everything the game throws at you in PVE.

Agreed. I did exactly that and have zero issues with any mission rats. Just have to switch ships occasionally.

Why would a Sleipnir be better than a Minmatar battleship for L4? Surely its DPS would be significantly lower. What am I missing here?

A Sleip can be pump out some pretty serious deeps. Better than some Battleships w/ T2 fits. Damage, RoF and falloff bonuses allow it to begin applying damage faster and from further out than many regular BS. Is it better than all of them? No. But it can outshoot a number BS hulls from the various races.

why go minmitar when you can cross train with amarr?

You get the nightmare, it's awesome, you win

Not sure a BC is going to outperform a BS. Even if the sliepner has great dps, will range not be a problem? never flown one so not sure.
I am caldari mostly and have cross trained to ammar.. best thing I ever did, as mentioned above, the NM is a beast for em/thermal weak rats and a CNR/Tengu will take care of everything else.

Personally I can't stand missiles any more, too slow and too much effort, guns all the way baby!

Apart from the fact a nightmare costs getting on for a billion isk, so it's not feasible for less hardcore players.

It will. The Sleip is a ton of fun to fly in missions but it isn't competitive with top flight BSs. It will give vanilla BSs a run for their money though.

Missiles against serpentis is an annoyance. Serpentis NPC tend to use lots of defenders, cutting down your dps by a good amount.

Angel Npcs can move fairly fast and reduce missiles damage by speed tank.

Sanshas/Bloods lasers are the bane to Caldari Shield tanking ships, not to mention neuts that drain your cap.

Guristas are the best NPC's to use missiles against due to their tendency to sit at range and Kinetic is one of the highest tanks for shields.
