Greetings.

I just ventured into L2 missions with my Omen. With my 7 day old amarr pilot.

I cleared a few missions but I got this mission with 2 Maller cruisers (blood raiders) and a bunch of other ships. I had to warp out in 10 secs.
Used to have the ratings for the agents but now L2s r hard.

Any suggestions? Get a Maller? Train up more skills?

Some lvl 2 missions can be hard for a new player.

Could you let us know how you fitted that Omen? We might can help you enhance it, so you are able to tank that mission for a bit longer :)

Few other tips:

Before accepting mission, check how much time you have for "bonus reward". That is quick indicator of how hard mission will be and hardest missions will have 6 hours.

Also you can check http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports to get exact list of what ships you will face there.

EDIT: Check what faction you will face (faction logo in mission info) and use appropriate tank, Mission Reports above or e.g. http://www.ogrank.com/content/view/698/59/

e.g. Blood raiders will make about 50% EM and 50% thermal damage, so there is no use tanking other two damage types.

If mission seems too hard, you can decline it. (But missions with many ships also pays better from NPC bounties.)

This mission got the 6 hrs time limit. 300k reward and 300k time reward.

I think I will abandon it. :(.

My fit is 5 beams.
2 cap rechargers & 1 AB.
2 400mm plates, 1 thermal exhaust, 1 type D power diag and a SMALL armor repairer.

I don't have enough power for the medium repairer.

I havn't used Omen, but plates are not usually used in PvE. Remove them, fit medium repairer, and see if you can fit some resistance modules also. Maybe Damage Control also.

In PvE sustained tanking (repairers, resistance) is important while actual HP amount is not that important.

Do not cancel the mission. Why don't you just ask your corpmates or someone in local? Or mail me. I'll be at home around 18:00 EVE Time and would be glad to help you out.
Eve is a multiplayergame. When you can't do something alone, get some other folks in your fleet.

Your fit is part of the problem although some missions are just very difficult and can catch you out. Don't fit plates in pve instead use resists and use a medium armor repper. Try something like this, just replace with named where you can afford it.

[Omen, LVL 2 - newbie]
Medium Armor Repairer I
Energized EM Membrane I
Energized Thermic Membrane I
Heat Sink I
Capacitor Power Relay I

10MN Afterburner I
Stasis Webifier I
Cap Recharger I

Jumping into cruisers too quickly can be painful, something I know very well from experience. You should probably train your core skills up a bit more before making the step; after another week you should be ready to more comfortably fly a cruiser.

The Omen is a good starter cruiser. I used one for a long time. It has nice DPS, acceptable tanking abilities, and, most importantly for new players, a drone bay. Drones are fantastic for killing smaller enemies that the medium sized turrets on a cruiser may have a hard time hitting with a low-skillpoints pilot at the helm.

Everyone has their own variations on what they would personally use for fittings, and as you learn how modules work together you'll do the same. The fit Vilnius linked looks like it will work just fine for you.

Do not abandon the mission!!!!

At this point in time you cannot afford the standings loss as a new player.

You need an active armor tank on the omen, drones and pulse lasers to take care of frigates. Not beam lasers and an armor buffer tank with tanking mods.

1 medium armor rep 4 hardeners.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.

Level 1 missions are no preparation for level 2 missions. If you have a low skill set then read the mission briefings linked elsewhere in this thread. The most important points to note are the types of ammo you should use and also the resists you need to work on and swap in if possible. The good thing about pve is that by and large the bad guys only use one type of damage per encounter (at least at this level). The other thing is to be aware of your buffer and begin warping out way before it is too late. Running the mission already aligned to your preferred exit (a station or a planet) will expedite your escape too. Oh, and don't forget to pull in any drones you may have out before you go. Don't feel its failure to warp out and back in during missions. It's cheaper than losing your ship. Finally consider carrying an armour rep in your hold to save the repair bills at a station.

I found for level 2s fitting some beams with long range ammo and kiting worked best.

Omens tend to be difficult to fit without good skills. With that said, don't cancel the mission. If no one will help you, it can still probably be done solo with your skills. I'd suggest fitting your Omen with an AB, small beam lasers, and kite the frigates until they are all gone. Leave the mission, swap for a Punisher with pulse lasers, multifrequency crystals, and an AB, and jump back into the mission, Burn into the Mallers, kill your prop mod, and orbit at 500 meters. You should be able to take them down with a little bit of time and they're probably not going to be able to hit you due to tracking issues.

Instead of plates , fit armor hardeners, one each of EM and thermal. This will cut all of your damage received in half for Blood Raiders, who use those two damage types pretty exclusively.

You can probably fit a medium repairer if you use pulses instead of beams, but your call on that one.

If it's not behind an acceleration gate, warp in at 30, or 50, or whatever your range is rather than warping all the way to the location.

Don't forget that you can add rigs to your ship to beef up tank or capacitor, the cheap and simple way to rig a laser ship is three Capacitor Control Circuits, that may let you remove your cap rechargers and perhaps free up enough power to upgrade your Repper.

Yup, early on, it will pay to keep your range and transversal velocity up such that the rats will miss/graze you quite a bit. Not dying is more important than killing stuff faster early on.

The Arbitrator is the Amarr drone boat, you may be interested in looking into that since you're already into Amarr Cruisers.

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.

Oooo Thanks.

Forgot about that ship. Anyone got a pve fit for an Arbitrator.

Though I'm totally new to Ewar.
