Hi there

Ok here is a new citizen, and he could use some advice.

I did the combat tuto and I am doing the exploration one.
First I need to make some cash so that means PVE (but no minnig ! I have the greatest respect for miners that manage to mine while staying awake... they guys deserve a medal !).

0. I found some info but if somebody has a good leveling path for an Amarr I am interested : What skills in what order and how to effectively use the remap (I am using EveMon and it's awesome !)

1. Where can I find some good pve fit for the Punisher ?

2. Speaking of PVE : I am Amarr
If I am right I will need to do mission for the Amarr and the Minmatar : That way I will keep good standing with everybody and be able to move everywhere. correct or am I missing something ?

3.I want to do pvp and low / nul sec ASAP
I understand that I will have to wait weeks (months :/ ) before being capable of this. But I also think that the sooner I moved into low /nul sec the easier it will be in the long run (like you see, I am an optimist guy :p )
Any advice on this ?

4. what is the typical Amar pvp style : oriented snipe at mid range ?

5. If someone knows a corp that likes to RP a bit, have access to low/null sec, pic time on the west coast, accepts newbies (even the one that believe they can have an impact), can keep my dog, and have tips for my laundry, please let me know !

6. i can't download EFT => its says site is in maintenance since several hours Shocked Any other place I can get it ? (I follow the link in the forum)

Thx for your attention

Mako

Good day!

Welcome to EVE, pilot Big smile

Q.0 - Skill Training (not leveling path)

Amarr ships rely heavily on capacitor to run their guns and tanks, so you may want to start training capacitor-related skills like Energy Management, Energy System Operations etc. Next, you should look into improving your gunnery support skills for DPS increase or armor skills for tanking. Afterwards, if you decide to stick with Amarr you can train for their Battleships or specialized ships (Assault Frigates, Recon Cruisers etc.), or branch out towards other races' ships.

Oh, and Drones skills too - they help no matter what race you choose.

Q.1 - Punisher PvE fit

You can do a quick search on the forum or Google, but personally I like to browse the fittings over at Battleclinic. Remember to sort by category and highest ratings.

Q.2 - Standings

Doing missions (and especially storyline missions) will affect standings with different factions in different ways. For example, Amarr is buddies with Caldari and hate Minmatar's guts, so doing missions for Amarr will improve your standing with Amarr, gain a little increase with Caldari and makes Minmatar hates you more. This is even more pronounced when you get faction missions. Check out the EVE wiki for further info Smile

I'll pass on the PvP questions since I'm not experienced enough in that matter.

Hope this helps!

#3 find a 0.0 corp that takes in newbies, there's plenty of them.

0. Pick a ship you want to fly (and fly well), select all the recommended skills, (try to fill up a 1 year training time exactly) then use Evemon to calculate the best stats for it. There's no "best" way to play Amarr, so it can really vary.

1. Battleclinic is your friend. http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/36519-level-1-2-mission-Punisher.html

2. If you want to be able to move everywhere, avoid missions that cause you to kill other factions, as these will effect your standings! Also, train diplomacy; it'll help. You can go all the way down to a -5.0 before you get shot at by a faction (-2.0 for concord, security status works differently). But honestly, it's not that big of a worry. I'd suggest sticking to only one faction. The rewards (such as the epic arc, and faction BPCs from Cosmos) are worth the standing hit with opposing factions, so long as you don't let them drop TOO low.

3. Many alliances have a 5mil SP requirement. A few don't. You'll have to shop around. Join the recruitment channel in game.

4. This really depends. Pulse lasers are medium-short-range heavy damage combat, whereas beam lasers are medium-long-range medium damage. (Lasers aren't nearly as extreme with their ranges as blasters or railguns). There are specialization skills for beam and pulse lasers; while you'll be able to use both with the energy turret skill, pick the specialization that better fits your playstyle.

Whoua that's fast !

Thx Xercodo for EFT link !

5 mil SP .... LOL I must have 60 000 or something :)

Lilliana : a Fit for level 1 & level 2 with tech2 equipment on it !
How are you supposed to use them or even pay for them when you start !
I will try to look for something a little more... low end :)
But thx for the link that gives some idea

Lukriss : how do you make money in 0.0 ? I mean there is level 1 or 2 missions down there ? (for some reason I am thinking that all top missions must be there, but I am probably wrond (and do not know how to check where are missions based ! Damn this map is difficult to use !)
I will start looking for.

Thx again

You don't have to use the tech 2 mods, silly. Just use the best version of that mod that you can =]. Tech 1s will work fine. Tech 2s will just help you get the missions done faster, but they're not necessary for level 1s.

Anyways, most people make money in 0.0 by ratting (going from belt to belt killing NPC pirates), there are also well-paying missions down there, as well as very good minerals for mining. There's also better planetary interaction. All in all, it's not that different from how people make money in highsec, it's just a bit faster.

If you're having trouble using the map, make sure you hit the "flatten" button. It's hard to use in 3D mode, but it's not so bad once it actually looks like a map. You can also enable tiles (color by region) to tell where different places are more easily.

A pretty standard "leveling" remap that will benefit you no matter what you're training (and that I'm still personally using to this day) is to split your points evenly between Intelligence and Perception. This will more or less minimize your training times all around for general skill training. A year or two down the road, you'll want to remap to something more specialized when you decide how you want to play, but for now int/perception is the way to go.

As far as skills go, get your core skills going right away - they'll make a huge difference in your ability to fly ships.

• Engineering - 5% extra ship power grid per level.
• Electronics - 5% extra ship CPU per level.
• Energy Management - 5% extra ship capacitor capacity per level.
• Shield Management - 5% extra shield capacity per level.
• Hull Upgrades - 5% extra armor per level.
• Mechanic - 5% extra hull structure per level.
• Navigation - 5% to sub-warp speed per level.
• Evasive Maneuvering - 5% to ship agility per level.
• Shield Operation - 5% extra shield recharge rate per level.
• Energy Systems Operation - 5% extra ship capacitor recharge rate per level.
• Energy Grid Upgrades - 5% reduction in CPU usage for many modules per level.
• Drones - 1 additional drone can be used simultaneously per level.

Get all of those skills up to 3 right away, and up to 5 as you can. You should also start training your core combat skills:

• Gunnery - 2% bonus to turret rate of fire per level.
• Motion Prediction - 5% bonus to turret tracking speed per level.
• Rapid Firing - 4% bonus to turret rate of fire per level.
• Controlled Bursts - 5% reduction to capacitor drain for turrets.
• Weapon Upgrades - 5% reduction in weapon CPU use per level.
• Surgical Strike - 3% bonus to turret damage per level.
• Trajectory Analysis - 5% bonus to turret accuracy falloff per level.

Again, get these up to 3 quickly.

As many have suggested, Battleclinic can be very useful. However, not all of the fits there - even high rated ones - are entirely legitimate. Take fittings there with a grain of salt.

Here's a couple nice Punisher fits for a entry-level pilot. You should be able to train for all of these modules within a day, if you haven't already.

Heat Sink I
Nanofiber Internal Structure I

1MN Afterburner I

2.
As Lilliana mentioned, doing missions against another faction will gradually, over time, upset them. It is a very slow progression, so doing one or two missions here or there won't matter. But I'd avoid doing missions against another Empire faction (Amarr, Gallente, Minmatar, Caldari) whenever possible. You can tell which faction a mission is against by looking at the icon in the mission description and right-clicking it for more info. If there is no icon, the mission is against mercenaries or drones and you'll lose no faction at all.

3.
There are plenty of corps that recruit new, low-sp pilots for PvP combat. You can be tackling enemies in a Punisher in your first week if you so choose. Check around with the in-game resources to find a corp that's right for you.

4.
Like all the races, the Amarr have different ships for different roles. They typical Amarr PvP style, if any, would probably be close-range brawling. The ships are a bit slower because of their armor tanks, but they have massive hitpoints and powerful capacitors. Ships like the Punisher, Maller, Prophecy, Harbinger, Armageddon and Abaddon are all great brawlers, while ships like the Omen and Apocalypse are a bit more nimble and tend to fight from range.

5.
CVA is the Amarrian Alliance with its roots in RP. It lives in the 0.0 space named Providence, just south of Amarr space. You could look into some of the corps there.

6.
Another option is to use pyfa, which is a cross-platform fitting tool.

Have fun and fly safe!

You only get shot at by a faction if you're in high-sec and their standing towards you is -5 or worse.

It takes quite a while to get that that low, and you can improve things by training the Diplomacy skill.

So don't work for the Minmatar, you'll feel dirty afterwards Blink

If you want to maintain good standing with everyone, just don't do any storyline ("very special") missions for anyone, ever, and don't ever do a mission that's against one of the four main empires.

If you just want to be on good enough terms with everyone that you can fly through their space without their NPC Navy jumping you, just train Diplomacy to 4 and don't waste too much time thinking about it again (though, still turn down most missions that involve killing people in the main empires) or train it to V and literally never bother thinking about it again.

You only have to stay over -5.0 to fly around an empire's space unmolested (by that empire, anyhow). The only reason you'd want to be any higher is if you want to mission for corporations in that Empire. For reference, with diplomacy IV the very lowest you can get is -6.8, and with diplomacy V it's -6.0. This is if your "real" faction is -10.0, something that takes so much effort as to be essentially impossible to do by accident. To hit -5.0 with diplomacy IV your "real" faction with that Empire has to be about -7.9, which is pretty impressively bad if you're not going out of your way to hate on that empire.

Roll Playing. Amarr. Null Sec.
CVA is the alliance your looking for.

You can make money quickly once you work out a mission fit for your punisher. By blitzing lvl 1 and later lvl 2 missions as fast as you can.

You can run missions for the minmitar if you want, just dont accept mission that have you fighting Amar navy npcs as you will loose standing with amar. Id say its better to focus on one faction at a time.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.

0. Intelligence and Perception remap. If you want to PvP quickly, focus on weapon systems, propulsion jamming an frigate-related skills. You can get most of those to 3 with little time investment, and 4 doesn't take long at all. You want small energy turrets to 4 an gunnery at least 4.

1. eve.battleclinic.com

2. It's not really all that possible to maintain great standings with the Minmatar for long. You picked your side.

3. Find some blogs and resources online. There's plenty out there. Most importantly, find a corp. Either a 0.0 corp or one that does Faction Warfare. Easy and quick way to learn to pvp. The solo game is neither for new players, nor a lot of fun anymore.

4. Close range with pulse lasers or pseudo-sniper with beams. Almost always armor tanked.

5. There's a recruiting forum, check that out. Better yet, make a post there. Recruiters may contact you in-game. There's also Eve University - great for new players, though less PvP oriented and they constantly get war dec'd.

6. Be patient.

Dear pilots

Thx for all the advices !

Some comments / questions :

FITS:

Thx invisusira for the skills plan and the fits !

Shield Operation up to 4 ?
Aren't true Amarr relying on Armor ?

Webifer for missions ? Isn't that for PVP ?
Right now I have a capa recharger, because well... even with our superior technology and my impressive skills.. hum hum.... my capa do not realy last long ! :D

MISSIONS:

Rodj Blake wrote:

lol

I do not want good standing with everybody, but I woul like to be able to fly everywhere (so staying above -5 with

the 4th main factions if I get it right).
So with diplomacy at V (that won't help my skill plan :/) and just turning down mission concerning killing other

faction I am good.
Like this can I do storyline ? Or maybe they are the one asking for kills ?

If I do not accept a mission and ask again the same agent, he will propose a different one ?

Corp
=======
Ok I will have a look at CVA, thx to point that out !

Scam ??
========
Out of the blue a 4 months guy proposed me to fleet to do mission because "it's fun to do mission in group"

That guy was not not even Amarr... and more important he is in a corp that has as policy "try to kill ppl and get away with it"
Question : when you fleet, can the guy attack you ? But he can't pop you right ?
Or maybe he can attack somebody else, that them can attack everybody in the fleet ?
Something else ?

Fun
====
Just finished the advanced military tuto : it was a TONS of fun, and really well done.
The last mission when you are scrambled and the bad guys DO really damaged you (how did they dare !), and you DO have to tank (thank again oh superior motherland technology !) made me super nervous !
By the time I killed the ship blocking me to warp away I had my heart pounding !
That's good to be a newbie again :D
And I even loot a level 3 object (but not sure what it really does yet... some strange thing... have to ask our scientists, and do some research (that impressive how much you have to read for this game ! It's good that I like that :p ).

I started the explo and trade tuto missions too. They are good to learn the rope but I do not find them as fun.
