We have seen both the Kronos, Paladin and the Vargur...Can you explain the upsides or the idea for those, instead of smaller, less expensive (points and isk cost) and why have we not seen the Golem yet or torps for that matter in this Tournament ?(correct me if there has been torps, just havnt seen them)

How nerve racking do pilots get in during the tournament?

I'll answer this with a quote from Ben Booley who has lost many capitals and flies a super(s?):

"I've gotten over 7,000 kills in this game, and I've never had my hands shake like that before. That was amazing."

Getting caught by a sleip and an ishkur right after our logi died was definitely the "oshit" moment of the match today for me.

Thought to myself "F---, this is definitely bad" but somehow with I was able to simultaneously overheat and coast out of range of the command ship while neuting the ishkur off me. No question in my mind that today was the most tense I've ever been in any video game, not to mention EVE.

For context, Destoya was one of the Malice pilots from the Rote vs PL (15th, 20:40 EST) match.

All 4 Malice's lived.

For more context, these Malice are ridiculously expensive and only a very few of them exist.

Why did Rote Kapelle not blow them up? *lol*

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

Tiny-ass sig radius, already-hilarious resists with boosts from a Damnation on top, and neuts/nos with a range -and- transfer amount bonus?

The Malices were bait. They might've been the most expensive part of PL's gang but anyone daft enough to go after them would've been effectively throwing the match - probably one of the things PL was banking on, aside from Rote fielding something more reliant on capacitor than what they did.

Bam, we have a winner.

Also, the sleips were tracking disrupted. You cannot hit frigates under a TD, without a web.
They were not getting webbed.

Please believe me, I would love to blow every one of them up. I would literally spurge all over my screen. It was not going to happen though.

two questions...

How effective do the experts think a Maulus would be as a support frigate in a tournament match?

and where can I get some of those cool ice cubes! Cool

Will Raivi be participating in the commentator's roam?

Also, if the commentators were team captains, what setups would they field?

She's married.

For the commentators: I don't think anyone has gone in to depth to explain how missiles work. What attributes affect them, etc. Talk about ship velocity vs explosion velocity, and sig radius vs explosion radius. What that means for certain match ups like tengus shooting frigs ect.

I can only confirm that this is a question of the utmost importance to both Pizza-consuming Alliances as well as radioactive reptiles.

Why have the sets in previous years (CCP Soundwave's set) been so much nicer than the set this year? That background ... just ... wow-horrible.

Sorry to hear that you don't like the new set. Personally I love it, the background is beautiful imo. For your own personal happiness we kept the old set, it is now in the commentary booth Blink

Seriously though, we couldn't use the old studio the year and found a great new space. This didn't work with our old studio set-up so it was necessary to find some cool new stuff for the main studio. Genuinely sorry that it's not to your taste but I do think the artist did an amazing job on the backdrop.

CCP_Sunset, is that an Aurum Lava Rock Necklace?

Yes it is a lava rock necklace, I actually got it from Blue Lagoon on my first trip to Iceland. Fanfest in November (if I remember correctly) 2008 and I couldn't find any stores open before the venue opened around 11am or after 6pm when the days were ending. But then why would you want to go to work in those horrible dark hours during the winter?

Anyway, it's one of my favourites, thanks for noticing Big smile
