New ship ideas and filling the gaps.

Maybe its just me but there seem to be a few gaps when it comes to the ships available. There's a lot of modules available that just seem to have no ship that takes advantage of them. For example:

Frigate Logistic ships

One of the most common items I see found in loot drops are small logistic items. Small remote armor reps, small energy transfers, small shield transfers. But there are no ships in game that can take advantage of these. Possibly another T2 alternate based upon the EWAR frigate hull is in order, or possibly a T2 version of the mining frigate?

ECCM support ship

Seems to me this would be a good Guristas faction ship to be out there. There are again modules that don't have a ship that has an advantage.

T2 Third tier Battleships

Mostly I just want to see an Abbadon in a Carthum skin, or a Maelstrom in a Core Complexion one. My suggestion would be for a command battleship, with a bonus much like the battlecruisers. Possibly call them flagships?

Exploration Cruiser

I think a SOE faction ship is in order here. Ship should get bonuses to run Analyzers and codebreakers with a bonus for scan strength of probes.

Gas Mining Cruiser

As a secondary idea it would be nice to see some faction ships engaged in industry to compete with ORE. More possibly from the DCM like the Orca design? Another side topic to explore is creating more variety of gas mining activities and products. Possibly some high sec LADAR sites for people to try out?

Anyhow, just food for thought.

Well, I support this, but I would say give the Industrial pilots a barge that specializes in gas harvesting, and it's T2 equivalent. I support the idea of bringing DCM into it to give ORE a bit of a run for their money. Hell, give the Indy pilots T3 barges.

But I would also like to see something along the lines of your Flagship idea, as a T2 Hyperion would just look sexy, maybe in a Roden Shipyards or CreoDron skin. The SoE cruiser for exploration is a nice idea, and why not also bring a deep space exploration ship into the fray, something that gets the bonuses, but can also be set up with a solid tank, or have an interdiction nullification system.

I think these are a really good ideas,

I like the one about the t2 Mining Frigates, mini logistics would be awesome!!

And yeah, a dedicated exploration ship would be very cool (similar to what the noctis did for salvaging but for wh's) also some kind of production version for the Zephyr would be much appreciated (Maybe you could make it a bc or bs hull and give it a ship maintenance bay that could only take the production Zephyr?) That would be interesting

And a dedicated Gas Miner would make me a very happy WH Dweller!!!! It could get a bonus to gas harvester range and cargo capacity (Maybe have a gas only bay? Like the primae and Orca ore holds) You could base it on a battlecruiser hull, or maybe another t2 industrial? Also you could get +1 gas harvester for every level of the skill trained (Gas Harvester ship skill that is)

I like the idea of a t3 miner aswel, that sounds epic!

And if were talking about ship ideas and where it needs to be expanded, id like to throw my 2 cents in

T2 Destroyers - Actual destroyers, the way they are claimed to be in their descriptions. Destroyers hull that get bonus's to tracking speed and maybe powergrid for their faction (Gal - hybrid, Cal - missiles etc etc)

We could call them gunboats, or Corvettes (I dont think Corvettes are already being used?)

It would be a similar comparison to Assault ships and Interceptors The interdictor catches them and the Gunboat kills em?

But yeah, I do think there are some ship roles left to be filled!! But id like to hear what other people think. would like to have

along with the logistic frigates, i'd like logistic destroyers. finally gives them another purpose other than interdiction and not quite as fragile as frigates.
i like everything else too, especially the eccm ship. ecm really has no counter other than a really weak module that nobody wants to fit.

I'd settle for TIER 2 Destroyers. But I see your points, and and definitely agree with most of them. Actually, as T2 BCs are fleet support, I could definitely see a T2 destroyer design which is anti-ewar, fleet support in a different form.

Regarding frigsize logistics: frigates themself represents a whole bundle of possible roles and destroyer hulls are presented only in a dumbfire platform and completely specific role of dictors. I vote for new branch for destroyer-hull ships - a frigsize logistics. Keeping their total amount of slots but rebalanced between L/M/H to complete the idea.
Devs - what shall you say about we have small size logi?

Would frigate gangs even benefit from having logi's? Seems to me the transition period from frigate to fireball is rather short.

To make Destroyers of Gunboat-kind it is not nessesary to make whole new ship - it's enough to remove their ROF penalty Twisted

T2 Destroyer idea.....

Racial Drone Boats +1 controllable drone per skill level (up to 10) and other drone bonuses. A micro carrier....Win!

a t3 industrial with "offensive subsystems" for ,ore, ice, gas, salvaging, and hauling

hauler would have 3000m3 per skill level

ore ice and gas would have bonuses to cycle time and amount

salvager would have similar to the noctis bonus to tractor beam range and speed

defensive subs would have a choice between optimizing for cargo size, negating scrambling, or defense

Cool ideas. The SoE is a fav. They really need a few faction ships, I think. Multiple exploration geared SoE ships should be cool.

Known and agreed gaps in ships. Im trying to solve for exploration hacking and the sorts now with my thread.

Frigs are fine. Dessies are rubbish. Hince, we need to look at a new destroyer design. I also really like this t3 industrial idea alot.

Production Zephyr. Interdiction nullified, but no fitting slots, slooooow warp speed and not quite agile enough to escape an interceptor on a gate, as long as the ceptor pilot is really on the ball.
