yeah technically, theyre against the forum rules, but thats a rule the mods seem to have forgotten

Personal attacks are prohibited.

"Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another. Text of this nature is not beneficial to the community spirit and will not be tolerated. Corporation, faction and alliance members and other players are cautioned to avoid allowing “in character” disputes from becoming "out of character" personal attacks. The game is designed for role-playing and/or portraying a role and it is sometimes easy for tempers to flare when the lines between the virtual world and the real world are crossed. Please keep in-game disputes in the game and off the forum unless it is clearly a mutual, in-character exchange. "

"Some say that he is actually dead, but the Grim Reaper is too afraid to tell him." "Some say he is the 3rd member of Daft Punk and he did the vocals of "Technologic" song. All we know is,he's called EVE Stig"!

I good 90 % or higher percent of 0.0 corporations and alliances have a requirement of voice comms.
You don't have a mic, go out and buy it.

You will also be required to join there forums and chat programs and everything else as well.

I don't eve n want to count how many corporations had a Ventrilo / Team Speak server that people donated to to keep it going.

In the this case you have to go join SA and pay RL money for that.

This is a non issue.
If you don't like it then pick someone else to join.

This is the best gaming community i've ever been a part of. Anything goes! God forbid someone actually has to exercise a little judgement with their gaming decisions. Ugh

Grow up OP. I've been at this game for 1 month and i already regret all the time i wasted on WoW.

HOW Chan this people be charging 10 american dollars for recruitment in game universe EVE ONLINE??

SURELY CCP are aware this issue but are letting things SLIDE or turning deaf eye to this problems?

If I try charging dollars AMERICAN to allow people in my corporation I would be banned immediately no? SO WHY THIS ALLIANCE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE THIS DISGUSTING PRACTICE.

IT IS A SCAM AND CCP ALLOWING IT TO HAPPEN.

It makes obvious sense that corps would be allowed to restrict access to their corp based on certain criteria. Many corps are US TZ only, some are EU TZ only, some are Australia TZ only.

Furthermore, many corps restrict membership to those who speak a certain language, have a certain gender, have a certain political ideology or have a particular sexual orientation.

Why would we not be allowed to restrict access to a certain online community?

All of thos examples no money is charged. this is LEGAL issue where Goon diplomat are making PROFIT in REAL LIFE DOLLAS creating the legal issues where CCP are supporting someone financial profit through this enforcement practice. if SA is free then so what no problem right? WELL IT IS NOT FREE AND GOONS MUST BE SHUT DOWN OR MADE RELAXS THE RECRUITMENT POLICIES.

Is it really a legal issue?

You must purchase a computer, operating system (we'll ignore Linux for now) and internet connection in order to play EVE. Furthermore, many corps require you to purchase a microphone in order to join them. Yet somehow CCP doesn't force these entities to stop earning money off of EVE's playerbase.

Even so, in order to prove your claim, you must show the following:
1) That there is an ACTUAL EVE PLAYER who profits from SA membership fees
2) That this EVE player is somehow related to Goonswarm membership and is involved somehow in the Goonswarm recruitment restrictions.
3) That Goonswarm, in fact, does not accept anyone who is not a member of SA (HINT: you CAN get into Goonswarm without being a SA member. You need a sponsor, and it isn't guaranteed though. IIRC, Hargoth was not a member of SA, and he somehow got in.)
4) That you can actually join Goonswarm simply by signing up to the SA forums.

IF THERE IS ANY ISSUE AT ALL, it is that Goonswarm may be exchanging in game services for RL services - ie, exchanging the protection and community gained from being a goon for SA membership. But then again, this is a EULA and TOS issue, which CCP is free to enforce at their own will - or not enforce at their own will. It sucks, but that's what happens when you enter into contractual agreements with corporations.

I may not care for the OP's tone and statements but he may have some points on it.

Voluntary donations are a different beast than membership fees being required.

It's really a shady area to look at.

Gay rights, specific religions, fraternal orders, groups like the Masons or Odd Fellows or Lyons ...

They can set up corporations in the game and insist others be members to join their in-game groups without violations to the rules.

Some such groups have membership fees to be part of their "society". As such it boils down more to the process of acceptance/elimination.

If it is a question of you being a member first - "what's your member ID" or the like? With a "sorry - only members are allowed" -- No problem. That is restricted membership.

If, on the other hand, they are going through a process and make membership mandatory AFTER an interview process? That's out of bounds - it is the ordering of things that determines it.

Member first for app and approval = "OK"
app and approval THEN membership = not ok.

One is a restriction, the other is using the game to beef up real-world membership fees and is both inappropriate as well as against the EULA. No charging for in-game items or services -- "membership has its privileges" - ship replacement programs, etc... It skirts really close to the RMT area and can be pushed over the edge with fair ease (no 'buy ISK" - get a membership - $50 a month and you get $50 worth of ISK... NOT good and easily converted. The reverse of MT by gold sellers... P )

So CCP may want to look at the ordering of the process that the goons are following just to insure it's limiting instead of using the game to recruit/beef up membership fees.

Yeah - kind of legalese subtle bullshit but it does make a difference.
