Just upgraded my GPU from a 5770 to a 7770. The 5770 was completely fine for Eve but I play Skyrim alot too and I can now run Ultra really well.

Anyways, I always run 2 Eve accounts. First thing I noticed it was taking longer to minimize one Eve window to get to the next one. But now after about 15mins, if I'm running both accounts, it's locking up my PC forcing me to Hard-start it. Any clue on what is going on?

Drivers are all updated both in windows and my GPU drivers.

***UPDATE*** 7/19/2012

So, been 11 days. Any fixes yet?

Just bumping my own topic to reinforce my concern. I see many other posts with people having similar problems. While I love this game, if I cannot play, I will unsub and I pay my subs with money, not plex bought with ISK(nothing wrong with that obviously, i'm just not rich enough in game yet).

I'm hoping a patch will fix it. My gameplay in other games(Skyrim, SWTOR, BW3) has improved a whole since switching to my new GPU. Eve is the only one I'm having problems with.

Sounds like possibly a memory issue. Every time you alt tab/max/min it could be not giving some back, ie a memory leak.

Also check your card fan. One of mine has basically gone out (less than a year purchased) and it seems Eve takes a huge amount to process, heating up from idle 60 to 90-100c whereby it turns off my monitors and locks, forcing me to reboot.

I run EQ II on one screen and it only heats to high 70s maybe. Just sitting at the login screen for Eve runs temps to 90s while this fan (two on card) isn't working.

This is ridiculous for a game that isn't even loaded fully. I wonder if the old Incarna bug slipped in somewhere.

Just did a 12min session with both accounts running. Ran a short mission where I thought it would lock up, but it didn't lock up till I was done and starting to head back. My PCU was going between 51C-57C and my GPU was bouncing between 59C-63C. The fan would speed up at 63C and bring it back down.

Man I hope this gets fixed soon.

Well, thought I had it fixed. I was googling some things and came across a solution that worked for some. They said to ensure that I only had one Sound device enabled under device. I checked mine and my PC had 3 device running at the same time. I disable two of them, left a third, logged onto Eve with both accounts going and had the longest session I've had since all this crashing started. I played for about 3 hours, no problems.

I thought everything was good then it all started crashing again. I hardstarted my PC and first thing I checked was that the sound devices still only had 1 enabled and it was only 1 enabled. I tried to run Eve again with two accounts and it was back to it's crashing ways, only getting 10-15min. sessions before complete lockup.

UGH!! I wish I knew what to do. I spent around 4 hours searching and talking to different forums asking for help, trying all kinds of things. This Sound device thing was the most promising, but ended up not being a fix for me. Might work for someone else though.

Well, tomorrow will be a week that i haven't been able to do anything in eve except log in to set some skills to train. I've tried everything. I'm not buying a new GPU, CCP needs to get this issue fixed. Both my subs run out this next week and will not be resubbing. I'm tired of trying to fix this myself. Hopefully a patch will come out that will fix it and I will resub.

Its a driver issue

Worked for me.

from another thread:

the display driver in the 12.2 package is not compatible with the hd7xxx series. are you sure you aren't using a later version and just installed 12.2 package on top of it?

what is your card model and what is the driver version in device manager?

Yeah, I have been following that thread as I posted in it also. I've tried every possible solution in that thread. No offense, but I didn't spend hours and hours sitting on my hands. I was actively trying everything you have mention and what the thread mentioned, plus a bunch of other things.

I switched to AMD cards a few years ago because I kept having problems with NVidia's. But, looks like things have shifted again. Not buying a new card now if everything except Eve is running much better, but maybe the next time around I will.

QFT man, no reason to buy a new card if eve is the only thing causing problems.
