Thought I'd give this Red Federation a go (presuming they let me in), seems like they need some cannon fodder, I got a few frigates left. I haven't quite figured out how ships fitted with the equipment I can use (and afford) can do anything against ships with top end equipment, but I expect someone in RF will give me some pointers on that.

Trust me on this, you can fit a T1 frigate for, what, 500k? That frigate will let you have just as much fun in a fleet battle as someone flying something shinier. ;)

If you or your friend have any questions, please shoot me a mail ingame and I'll get you both set up.

FYI, Frigate PVP is boring, also, It takes way to long for this game to get fun, I have been at it a month, and still get wiped by much larger ships, sometimes for no apparent reason (amen for insurance and my ability to make ammo). The only fun pvp I found for my frigate was joining a nerds group and running in their "wolf packs" while they rid Providence of all the reds. Its at least some PVP, even though you're just there to spot the reds and keep them from warping away while the rest of the fleet shows up and nukes him. Make a couple fast ships with a warp disruptor and a shield, and your set. I wanted this game to workout, but it is really hard to kill a ship bigger than yours without getting wiped. ISK was not at all difficult to get a hold of, and didnt stop me at all. Just get a ship with 3 tech II mining lasers and you can buy, equip, and insure a frigate in about an hour worth of mining. The ONLY thing slowing me down is the lack of "skills" that give me a competitive edge. I cont get past the fact that it takes weeks to get

You really aren't doing it right if this has been your experience. You can get involved with a corp and go on ops. You can also hunt for larger ships and speed tank them while pointing them. It may take work, but seriously after only one month your not meant to have the higher skills yet.

I was told early on, this game is one of months and years, not weeks. you will not attain the higher skill levels and get into the tech two modules without skilling up and spending the time we all have to wait out.

Change up your EVE life and find new people if your getting bored or discouraged.

Looked up...saw this F***ING clown dropping like a rock.  Woke up in Vylade wondering what just happened!!!

That sounds good, because it will be within my budget (barely) ;)
My friend is less PvP-oriented though, so I'm not sure if he'll follow me (another question would be, will I be able to do stuff with him while in RF without getting shot down by everything that moves?).
I appreciate your offer to help me get started :)

Barring 3rd party war declarations, the only time* you have to worry about getting shot is while you're in the RvB combat area (currently The Forge). Red Federation and Blue Republic members aren't supposed to shoot at each other outside of this combat area, to allow people to mission without leaving the corporation.

Of course, if we have a 3rd party war declaration, they like to go after mission runners, so that's something to be cautious of, but aside from that* you and your friend can do whatever you like together.

*NOTE: Anyone can shoot you anywhere at anytime (except while docked) because this is Eve Online, and some people just get bored. RvB cannot control the random stranger who decides to shoot at you for whatever reason they have. Blink

"Is boring" is a very relative term. What is boring for some people might be exciting for others. I would probably never sit in a mining ship, even if I got paid to do so. Some people enjoy mining, running missions, or killing NPCs, or making a trip around the universe - none of which I would consider particularly enjoyable.

I was lurking and just had to comment on this quote. My Eve life would drive most people mad. I grind lvl 2 and lvl 3 missions just so I can get the standing to run lvl 4 distribution missions. I guess I am the Eve equivalent to the old guy in the park feeding the pidgins.
