Let's get the ball rolling: For me, I believe I saw one of those rare adverts way back in the day. First MMO I ever really played, and here I am 6 years later, excluding a few months of "refresher quits."

~Badposter since FOOOOREEEEEVAAAAAR~ I come back after 2 years to THIS? ~Now 4 years apparently

Searching for a game to try one day and came across a review of eve from 03before or whenever it came out. Rated 6 out of 10. I liked the description and the fact it wasnt a "fantasy" setting. That was about 4 years ago.

I plan on living forever.......so far, so good.

A really, really, really old blog post on an Indie gaming site I used to read. Started playing, got bored, quit.

Came back a year later and haven't left since.

I saw a friend playing it one day like six or seven years back, heard about some of the scandals and corp thefts, but pretty much ignored the game because it was an MMO (they still have a sort of stigma in my mind). Fast forward to last April, I was sick and bored on a weekend, remembered EVE and decided to give it a try.

Kinda wish I'd done it a long time ago tbh.

I love spaceships and I would watch a friend play it. He showed me the ship veiwer and I could not get enough of it. Then I met my previous girlfriend who loved MMO's and was on an EVE trial account so I got one too. She left the game eventually but I still played and am still playing.

I was in the closed beta of eve, and at that time I simply couldn't get into it.

I was playing earth and beyond at the time, and knew somebody in that game that had wanted to get into the Eve beta but missed the deadline to sign up. I gave this individual my beta account in exchange for items in E&B.

Eve eventually went live, and it was rigt around that time that earth and beyond took a nose dive only to be shut down by EA. This resulted in a large number of refugees from that game coming over to eve. Ccp was even targeting people who played e&b with adverts that invited them to come on over to the other side. In all honesty the timing couldn't have been better for them.

I decided to give Eve another try and to my surprise loved it.

I also wantes to strangle myself for giving up my beta access. ;)

Started playing in 2005 Maybe i seen a pop up add when i was playing Planet Side, quit for a year, lost that account after i changed ISPs. Started playing again in 2006 on and off ( more off then on ) like 3 months at a time.

After playing almost every gear grind MMO known to man, Im in eve to stay.

Swedish PC Gamer had a article back in 2002 about this bizarre sci-fi space MMO called EVE Online: The Second Genesis that was in development from this remote supposedly-covered-in-ice nation and having played games like Elite, Frontier: Elite 2, X: Beyond The Frontier, Wing Commander, Homeworld and numerous others, I was hooked!

I saw one of those EVE adverts, made two trial accounts before I finally decided to get into the game for real. I took a bit of a break the first few months of 2012, but I've been back for a while now. I don't usually get into MMO's, but EVE stands out from the rest of them by being so wonderfully different.

The fact that there are spaceships and guns instead of horses and swords helps too.

Hearing that this game needed an economist to monitor the economy. That got me interested so I read up on it. However the one thing that made me decide to play was the trial site showing the commodities with green and red arrows to show prices. As soon as i saw it I creamed myself and subscribed. BRING BACK THE TRIAL SITE WITH THE ARROWS!!!!
