Just a guess, but probably "an individual who holds Federal Citizenship within the Gallente Federation".

Not exactly a hard question to answer.

Wrong. This is the first mistake people from societies with more stringent ethnic definitions make. "Ethnic Gallentean" is the specific ethnic term, and even then, many ethnic Gallenteans have immigrants ancestry. "True Gallentean" is something straight out of a Ultra-Nationaist propaganda leaflet, I feel.

I specifically did not use the term 'Federation citizen' because that is easily defined as someone who is, of course, a citizen of the Federation.

The fact that anyone can call themselves 'Gallentean' is key to the Federation value system, though plenty will have disagreements with that value system within the Federation, that is the mainstream opinion at least. But there is the old adage of "who is the average Gallentean?", which is what I'm trying to bring up here.

I'd say, the way Cpt. Oniseki is right, here. Not all Gallente are citizens of the Gallente federation, so, one can't define Gallente by citizenship with the Gallente Federeation. Still, the same is true for Amarr, Caldari and Matari. The picture Cpt. Inhonores paints of them is skewed by his point of view. He's not giving an accurate account. of the situation.

Again, confusing ethnicity with citizenship, or vice versa.

Cpt. Inhonores,

it doesn't matter whether Gallente is an ethnicity or something that anyone who decides to call himself so is. In both cases it would be true that not all Gallente need to be citizens of the Gallente federation. Again, Amarr, Caldari and Matari are neither by necessity members of their respective nations. There are some ethnic Amarr within the Federation. I personally know some - and by the way, most of them wouldn't call themselves 'Gallente'.

Also, you seem to make a weird comparison, if you claim that Gallnte isn't an ethnicity, but Amarr, Minmatar and Caldari are. Not to speak of the fact that Amarr is a word that can be used to point at an ethnicity as well as to other things. It's quite convoluted in it's use. I guess, maybe the word 'Gallente' might have different uses as well.

Last but not least, if one defines 'Gallente' as you do, there is of course no 'counter' to this. There are, in general, no 'counters' to definitions, as one always can - as you do - go back and say 'No, you haven't understood what a Gallente is, they are not an ethnicity', implying 'thy are not an ethnicity by definition' and that the other simply don't understand the use of the word if he says 'Gallente' is an ethnicity. But you know full well, that it also used to refer to an ethnicity - it's just that you choose to ignore that here and rather use th definition you gave.

And, ah, one more thing: Of course the Gallente are onto something with their concept of freedom. It's simply that they went on with the wrong conclusions from the glimpse they got.

Ethnicity is a bad word. Blight is a good word.

I define a Gallente by how far his spine can bend backwards before it snaps. I'm usually dissapointed, most seem to have lost their spine sometime ago, and I'm not awarded the pleasant cracking sounds.

I am Gallente of Gallente Prime.

Mostly anyone will tell you that my name has no high status, but I can at least tell you of my view.

Firstly: My Gallente birthright is... that I am free to ignore it, without fear of slavery, or brutality or reprisal.

A lover that lets you step away from them to find your own path, in the hopes you will return, is better than the one that crushes you to their breast and refuses to let you depart.

I will die for my love, my Gallente, because they free me.

I know that being Gallente means being for what is right.
And I know that I am right. in saying that - I know this because I chose it for myself.
It was not delivered to my by a mighty wind, or a statue, or a person in a crown.

I see myself free in the embrace of that love, and know this freedom to be true for every man and woman in the systems.

Lastly, being Gallente means that I will only pity every one of you that sees my love as self serving superficial or as a patronizingly superior falsehood.

I only state my love, that I cherish and will die for. I defend it and fight for it, and your right to have it.

And I weep for those that don't have love like that.

Shiv.
