It's loud and clear, we are seeing it as of now. But I gotta say, posting with an alt makes you a coward in my book. And EVE is not a place for cowards. So, might as well not give them any kind of credibility for being cowards.

Is this aimed at me? This is my main.

I just trade. If I undock, my system overheats and crashes within three minutes. Not that I owe you an explanation. I don't play Eve for Eve, no goon does. It's the community that makes GoonWaffe work. I forget who said it, but it is true. "Eve is the worst game I've ever played. GoonSwarm is the best game I've ever played."

In this case, let this be my main!

Meanwhile, quick briefing - you guys see what a little forum post revealing a few scammers can do to them? They suddenly summon all their friends and make it a 8-page long butthurt topic while desperately trying to save their scamming gold mine.

To all the newcomers: I recommend you take a close read at the first post in this topic, as well as Google / search for "Goonswarm Scam" or "Goon scam" on these forums to get the picture of what I'm trying to save you from.

Best to all of you and stay safe,

Hardly a Goon friend anyhow. Don't know any of those guys. Of ocurse there are Goonswarm scamming, but eh, adding the real recruiters as scammers is simply idiotic, especially when based on specious and uncorroborated comments. Eh, I could basically just start a thread saying how you scammed me of a billion and I'd have as much credibility as you do at the moment.

And never, EVER trust a 'recruiter' that says they need to see you naked on webcam, they are probably scamming you as well. Trust me.

I have too much respect for myself to join goons. Anyways, who would want to be around a bunch of people like that? Most of them prob don't even really like each other. Just the mentality you would have to have to actually want to be a goon. I think of them as the type of people who will back the strongest side in a war, even if that side is completely despicable. They do this because they are cowards and are afraid to lose and are afraid of real challenge.

You really don't have any idea what you're talking about. Our corp is the size it is because we do enjoy playing the game together. It comes from being connected to a community outside the game. If we hated each other, we'd have fallen apart long before now, like so many awful, corrupt little high-sec pubbie corps. The culture inside goonswarm is very friendly to newbies, filled with people who are helpful to everyone who asks, lots of funny comedy posted to the forums, and a lot of other things you have no idea about. We do rip on eachother sometimes, because we aren't overly-sensitive babies who can't take a joke.

Eve is a terrible game, but playing it with goons is a great game. Yeah, we back some despicable people in game. In game. Think about those two words. This is a game, and its fun to act in a way you normally wouldn't in real life. And we do, because its just a game, and we don't take it as deadly seriously as some others do.

As far as us being afraid of a real challenge, everyone says that. I guess we reached the top by hiding in our shells and never taking risks, right? Probably has nothing to do with countless battles, learning from our mistakes, and making alliances with like-minded corps. It has to be our cowardice and lack of skill that launched us to the top.

Not that I'm any part of the Swarms military might. I do other things to contribute, however.

I've heard that claim before but its actually the opposite of what you might think, for the most part..

Its a game where you are anonymous and so you have less social restrictions. Less social restrictions means you are more likely to be who you really are deep down inside. Now I know that killing someone in eve is a lot different than killing them IRL, but stealing, lying and backstabbing is usually a true reflection of how that person would act IRL if they didn't have consequences.

This is not only my opinion, it is a scientific fact that has been proven by an actual study.

So basically all you are saying is that without social restrictions, people would fall into tribes and screw anyone that isn't from said tribe.

Oh internet spaceship.. the fact that on the sell orders section of these glorious forums sellers sometimes place 'No goonswarm, or goon buyers' should be an indicator of the uphill struggle you are facing trying to clear the name of the alliance you so avidly defend.

Christ, you people have no idea, do you. The Goon leadership are playing this game on a level you don't even know exists. You think they pulled the Faction Warfare market manipulation because they had to? They are cunning, they are ruthless and they are very, very well-led. They have strong internal community support and competent pilots. They are a success, and you loathe them for it.

Having never been blown up, scammed or otherwise inconvenienced by the Goons I must admit I have nought but admiration for what they have achieved (verily, at the expense of those who might not be savvy enough to recognise a trap when they see it). Of course every luxury in EVE is enjoyed by the sweat of another pilot's brow; it's just that the Goons have been made famous for it because they're good at it.

Dislike them on the principle of their success if you wish, but don't trash talk for the sake of trash-talking. Try and keep this thread about people who are not actual Goons, and are trying to weasel you out of your hard-earned ISKies.

A Google of "Goonswarm EVE" leads to the scam information in the first 3 hits (not this thread either).

If newbies don't find out through that easy method, what makes you think this thread will be of any use.

Most newbies don't read the forums, even fewer read C&P.

Well, I couldn't find the exactly study I'm referring to but this one comes close enough:

"Computer-mediated communication, de-individuation and group decision-making"

Just not willing to spend much time searching for it. Don't care much what goons think.

Many thanks for the thought provoking article, but I wonder why you seem to think it applies only to us. Everyone in Eve is engaged in computer mediated discussion, if this damns goons, it damns you too, as.well as everyone playing eve.

I mean just look at how you addressed me in this thread. I've said nothing untoward to you and you don't have a clue.what I do in game, but you aren't even willing to discuss it with me because I' m just a goon, which you heavily imply makes me inherently inferior. Which of us is acting in an inhumane fashion again?

I don't mean to jump down your throat here, but I've been pretty civil here, and you pop in telling me that by the simple fact that I joined Goonswarm, I'm an immoral and bad person in real life, wheras you, by not joining, inherently have more integrity than I do, despite the fact that so far, you've been the only one making sweeping generalizations and condemnations of people.

And ok, let's say I am the fabled scamming and gloating ubergoon. If my actions in game serve as evidence of my real life persona, wouldn't my real life actions also apply as evidence? But you don't even know what I do or how I act in rea life. You still don't have enough evidence even if your theory is true. Just because you don't see the evidence doesn't mean it doesn't apply.
