Salvaging/Looting after ratting?

So I rat forsaken hubs with one account. It occurred to me that I have a lot of downtime. Even though I usually fill it by reading something/watching TV, I'm thinking about using my other account to augment the first one.

Basically, the second account can fly a noctis and has lvl 4 salvaging. I was wondering with the increase in mineral prices if it's worth it to loot, refine the trash loot and sell the valuable stuff, and then sell the salvage? I really have no idea how much it's worth per hub. If it's a decent amount, I'll do it. If it's nothing, I won't even bother.

battleships can have some juicy loot like large smart bombs. it's hard to put a number on it but in your situation i'd say you will get an additional 10-20 mil/hour disregarding the trouble to haul the loot to empire.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Well, I think the isk/hr depends entirely on how many hubs I'm killing per hour. If I can kill 4 hubs/hr, my salvager will make more isk/hr than if i was killing 3 hubs/hr (as I can salvage/loot a hub way faster than killing one).

I also run forsaken hubs and tend to use a 2nd account to salvage.

The way I see it is if the 2nd account is doing nothing its not producing me isk. With the rate at which I finish hubs my 2nd alt is one not gonna bring that much dps to the fight plus additional micromanagement of targetting, shooting and maintaining tank.

After finishing the hub I corp book mark, give it 5-7mins to make sure that the site has despawned and loot and salvage away.

Then I sort the loot, in my region there are about 9 meta 4 items worth keeping to one side. Those I stockpile with the salvage and then via courior contracts I have them jumped back to empire. (My corp offers services back to jita at really good rates.) If I am in a rush those items just get sold to buy orders. If I have the time, they go up as sell orders.

The rest of the loot is melted, luckily for me the refinery is only one jump from the factory station, so I'll move it across when its quiet and then build ships. I usually go for drakes as the market in my region is ok for them or the fact that again I can get quiet a few of them jumped back to empire in one run and then again sold in jita.

Another great thing is if you share your system with others and they are not looting, my alliance mates will blue an anom after they are cleared. So if I warp to an anom and its taken and I know the guys arnt looting, I'll corp BM and then send my alt in about 30 mins later to clear to the field.

IMO its worth doing for me, very roughly the lowest hub value in terms of loot and salvage was 10M, the highest was 60M. Before I started running the hubs myself I would salvage other corp / alliance members. Only over a few days I collected over 500M's worth of loot and salvage.

Thanks for the good info. I need to find some sort of system to find out how valuable my loot/salvage haul is.

if you have a second account with a noctis, or can get a noctis after running 3 anoms, then its worth it. Noctis salvages so fast it requires nearly your full attention, but it hardly takes any extra time away from shooting red crosses.

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**

Never forget.

That.

If you don't have anything else to do (Reading, watching a movie, chatting, EFT Warrioring, whatever), you might as well use the time between cycling guns to salvage some site if you have an alt that can fly a Noctis.

But on the same account, don't bother unless you don't have any further sites or things to do. :)

It's much better to use your second character as a combat one than looting one. Speed covers everything. You can do more isk/hr from bounties.

Disagree on this one with you. Generally to clear anoms fast you dps tank, which requires you to be micromanaging a lot.

I can complete a hub solo in about 18 minutes. Going in twos brings it to about the 11-12 minute mark, but thats with another person, micromanaging an two alts ratting the same anom is a nightmare. (With 4 we can clear a hub in 3 minutes!)

Looting and salvaging doesnt require the same lvls of attention and can easily be done whilst still ratting on the main. Plus the random nature of loot drops means you can do pretty well out of it if you are lucky.

If you really must bring a second account as dps then the best form is a carrier at pos/safe providing fighter support.

In my experience, salvaging/looting is worth it if you have a noctis. It also depends how fast you clear anomalies.

Salvaging is always worth it... At L1's we can get up to 2kk per mission. At L4's it may rise up to 200kk - 500kk per mission. I once salvaged 500kk just following a corp that like to trash everything in 3 days.

And that is WITHOUT a Noctis. Imagine if it was there to help.

Never stop salvaging. You can salvage 50 ships and don't get a single worth bolt, but in the last one you get THAT 10, 20, 50kk item that makes for the whole mission running hour. Cool

I used to just loot and salvage with my vargur, it went OK, though I did not salvage everything I would just pull in loot as I went and get the odd salvage cycle in. On occasion it was worth it, sometimes the drops were bad though. This weekend I got my alt into a noctis, and it is nice. Running anoms, missions, whatever, if you can have a noctis cleaning up after you it is a definite boost to the income. My only regret is that I did not get that noctis following me sooner.

Use two dps ships, run two sites at a time.
Will double your income.

Or do what I do.

rat in two toons (split one screen)
2nd screen with the noctis.
1 toon gives me 20m ticks , both toons ratting together i get 36-40m ticks, and i still have my 3rd account in a noctis following.
