Moved a chunk of my story here (from A gang's first flight), as per user suggestion:

After that Drake kill we moved on to the next system and noticed that a pirate has been following us. He’s in a Rupture. While two of us wait at a safe, our Pilgrim pilot is cloaked outside a station, waiting to see if the Rupture shows up. Eventually he does and the Pilgrim engages. Unfortunately for us, the Pilgrim doesn’t have much of a tank and goes down from a combination of the station guns and the Rupture.

When we land we engage the Rupture and bring him down to less than half armor before he is finally able to dock again. A few seconds later, he undocks (with full armor again) and tackles me. Tanking the station guns for a few minutes now, I chose to dock and call for the Myrmidon to do the same. Clearly, we weren’t going to win a docking game with this guy.

I congratulate the Rupture for his kill, but the Pilgrim pilot wasn’t so impressed: “Nice station guns,” he says.

“A win is a win,” says the Rupture pilot. True enough.

About 20 minutes later (back from a quick bite to eat, while waiting for the global criminal to expire), I noticed that the Rupture pilot was challenging me to a duel. I notice his employment history and point out that he will no doubt win as I am flying a larger ship with very few skills and he has a few years on me. He insists that it will be close.

My two fellow pilots also insist I fight, already forming their own plan.

“Fine,” I say, and we pick a scenic orbit above a planet as our fighting spot. The Pilgrim pilot was on his way back with a Curse and the Myrmidon pilot was one system over. They notice that the Rupture had some backup of his own: a Hurricane was also in the neighboring system.

As the fight progresses, it becomes painfully clear to me that my Harbinger (Rage, I believe I named it) was no match for the swifter Rupture and its more experienced pilot. I call my fellow pilots on vent to jump in the fight; I know I was going to die, but I wanted the Rupture to go down with me. As they enter the system, the Hurricane arrives at the duel site, apparently noticing the Myrmidon and Curse activity and preemptively moved in.

“He’s just here to make sure the fight doesn’t get interrupted,” says the Rupture pilot.

The Curse and Myrmidon jump in, and I switch my guns (missing the Rupture most of the time) to the Hurricane. After my Harbinger finally goes down, I warp out and listen on Vent as the Curse and Myrmidon finish off the Rupture and score the Hurricane as a bonus.

“You have no honor,” says the Rupture pilot after the fighting ends. “In EVE, reputation is everything. You should’ve just taken the loss.”

They leave the system and we go back and salvage the wrecks. As we prepared to leave, the Rupture pilot showed up again – this time in a Myrmidon – and challenged us once more.

Then I remembered something he said earlier.

“A win is a win.”

And we leave.

So is station humping and challenging pilots with less than 10% of your skill points! But you don't see us crying about it : O

For newcomers, I don't think these results are bad. We are all mostly two- to three-month characters with these as our mains.

The pilgrim loss was regrettable, but doesn't really count in my books. What counts is the last bit where we only lost the Harby and we took out the Rupture and Hurricane from two "experienced" players : O

Did you read the story? Didn't you see the "and we leave" part? Seriously dude! Roll

If a Hurricane and Rupture helmed by two veterans can't handle a few noobs, then I don't know what to say but "a win is a win"

Needless to say I did not last to long in that fight. I am however pissed at loosing my Corpses in the cargo hold.

I'm actually getting bored of telling Thorax Stories. I think it's time to use a different ship. Something people dojn't normally use perhaps?

You let me know... must be a cruiser though.

Anyway another Thorax story.

As per nomal i am sitting a planet checking direction what people are up to. see two Retrivers with a few cans.

I warp in flip. One retriver warps away and in comes a mammoth. he takes it all and is quickly dispatched. Local gets 2 more corp members. in warps a Raven, Drake and a Myrm. They promptly engage, I decide to go for the Raven first since it used by the youngest pilot.

We all know young players in Battleships are nice a squishy. Raven gets into armor and warp away. WTF? Warp Stabbed...

I go to work on the Drake, and the myrm warps away. Luckily the Drake dows not have a Warp Stab and popps making me happy.

I would have been happier with a raven kill to make up for the 11% armor I had left.

Well I think this one is my best story yet.

Lately I've been stealing a lot of ore from a russian training corp. Got a few kills.... mostly just angry russian in local.
This morning I find one of them in a hulk jet canning. Steal all his ore and throw it into my own cargo container.
The guy instantly steals it back.. and......

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=16916510

Local explodes with russians telling me its open season on me and I'm going to pay.
Shortly after this I get a notification letting me know that one of the parent corps members has added me as a contact with terrible standing. About 2 hours later the guy who added me as a contact private messages me asking me to help him kill a noob in the system. Here's the convo....

Well I think this one is my best story yet.

Lately I've been stealing a lot of ore from a russian training corp. Got a few kills.... mostly just angry russian in local.
This morning I find one of them in a hulk jet canning. Steal all his ore and throw it into my own cargo container.
The guy instantly steals it back.. and......

I looked at the Talos, looked at the damage received... couldn't figure it out until I looked at the armor lows... 50mm? Oh wait... there's a 100mm... and... I ... my...

I do not understand what happened upon fitting this ship. I do not understand WHAT he could have been thinking. This defies reason. This makes my brain hurt.

Oh my... the guns... the guns. This has got to be fake! Please! For the love of all, tell me it is fake.

I don't have a blog, mostly because I'm pretty fail at setting stuff like that up, or I'm terrible at updating them so I figured I'd just post here. Though perhaps this post is a bit out of place among all the posts about scams, high sec ganking and corp theft. I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to piracy and I can't help but remember the glory days so this is just my attempt at recapturing them.

My first incident happened maybe a week ago, I was just testing out my nemesis, I haven't messed with stealth bombers since they launched cruise missiles, and could only use improved cloaking device II needless to say it's capabilities were a mystery to me, and bombs are a bit of a fuzzy area for my still as I've not went to null to play with them yet.

So I had just undocked from my lowsec home in my shiny new nemesis, and was going to warp to a belt to see what my damage was like on different size ships, when I saw on scan a drake. Now my lowsec system isn't ever really deserted it's close to a 0.0 entry point and typically has a few people docked up or passing through so a drake on scan wasn't that big of a deal, but old habits die hard so I pulled up the d-scan and started doing some quick 90 degree scans when I picked him up in a direction where there was only belts.

After another minute I had narrowed him down to a specific belt and I warped in cloak to find him tractoring NPC wrecks 20km away to salvage them while still shooting at the rat that was left in the belt. At this point the adrenaline had started to flood my system, the last time I'd done any series PVP had been back in 2008, and the shakes had already started to take me. After all this guy could be bait, he wasn't a new character he had a 2008 creation date and for all I knew he had buddies waiting to jump in or had a cyno module and was simply waiting for some evil pirate to show himself. Not just that but I was in a completely untried ship I had just got and whose capabilities I had no more handle on than simply knowing some numbers on paper.

I maneuvered my nemesis into range and decloaked, turned on my afterburner and started a more or less manual orbit at 15km away, because he was so close to the asteroids in the belt that I couldn't possibly rely upon a standard orbit. Targeted him as soon as I had a decent speed, activated my disrupter and then my torpedo bays.

The first salvo of my torpedoes were away, and the drake still hadn't targeted me, and was still shooting at the NPC rat that was still in the belt which already had him down to half shields. My torpedoes struck all but the thinnest margin of his shields. My second volley was away and hand blasted him into nearly half armor when he finally put his drones on me, while still shooting at rat in the belt. I fit my nemesis with a medium shield extender so I was doing fine and it looked like I'd be able to kill him before he could break my shields.

He must of come to the same conclusion, because he convoed me a second later and informed me that I had him dead to rights. At this point I decided to try and ransom him, it was something I did routinely ages ago but it had fallen out of favor, as some pirates thought it was funny not to honor ransoms. Still I thought maybe it was worth a shot. So shaking I managed to type out

"Recall your drones and stop firing, send 30million isk to my account and I'll let you keep your ship. You have 30 seconds"

I fired another salvo to put him into half hull just to let him know I was serious when I saw his drones get recalled and I waited. It took longer than thirty seconds, and so i started a count down from 5.

five,

four,

three,

Still no blinky wallet,

two,

my finger hovers over the f1 key, ready to press it if local jumps, or he reengages.

on.... my wallet flashes I check the amount

Thirty million isk, I thanked him and left the belt, my shields had never dropped below fifty percent and I had just made a cool thirty mill in a completely untried ship. It was a dangerous risk taking an untested ship against a possible bait drake but it was worth it in the end.

More to come.

LOL Did you notice that the Drake nowadays costs over 50Mill ? Unless you just wanted to ask a reasonable amount. But then it makes no sence. I don't understand...

People are more likely to pay a reasonable ransom in case you decide to let them live rather than an extortionate one in my experience.

Too many people don't honour ransoms to make higher ransom amounts worth asking for.

Exactly, call me old fashion but I prefer my Ransoms to be paid, I typically go for about 50 to 60% of the hull price, unless they start to give me trouble then the price goes up. Besides 30mil is likely way more than I'd of gotten from any loot he would of dropped after I popped him.

Some pirates are brain dead and don't realize this important part lol. Nice to see reasonable pirates.
