Low-sec Exploration Question

Pretty straight forward question: Would a Drake be capable of doing lowsec plexes? I don't care about efficiency, I just need a source of income.

As you said if you dont mind doing combat sites slowly drake could work. But as you tend to take more time to do them there is a greater chance that some pirates come and interupt you. There is also problem of traveling trough low sec, solo gate campers will not engage drake but first half comperent gate camp will kill you

Drake is an excelent starter ship, considering exploration in less friendly area's.


Ofcourse there are better ships, but way more expensive and I consider it wise to get used to low in less expensive ships.

Use a separeate prober, low sec is less competetive so you have some time after you scan something down.


as to getting it there, use a travel fit, nano's, MWD and a cloak.

Scout the systems and bookmark safe spots.

Check your route on dotlan, scout first high sec gate in a shuttle or a pod, take extra care at cross road systems.

station the drake in a nice Low sec system.

All lowsec Angel Cartel plexes are doable in a Drake with good skills/fit. But it will take ages for some plexes like Angel Cartel Red Lights District.

some lowsec plexes have bosses that can tank well. That said, a drake is a very affordable and effective ship to do lowsec explo with. You'll be able to afford losing one now and then.

What about other T1 battlecruisers? Cane, myrm, brutix, etc. Tier 3s? I am also interested in this, but don't fly caldari (yet).

Blood and Sansha 6/10s aren't going to work in a Drake; the overseer tanks are too substantial to break, especially given their high kin resists.

Eh. Maybe. I don't like playing in space that crowded but it's your call. You'll have better luck applying enough damage there for sure.
