I just got into my thrasher and was going to long range pvp with it or maybe pve with it. The only problem im having is the best ammo to use with my 150mm siege cannons i was using phased plasma s but i read somewhere thats short range ammo.

So what would be the best?

I would still use Phased Plasma or EMP. The damage potential is just that much better than the "long range" ammo. The only penalty (or bonus) you get to "range" is Optimal Range and Artillery Cannons tend to have very generous Falloff ranges so you should be able to hit stuff... as long as you can track them.

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

If he has just jumped into a Thrasher I doubt he can use T2 ammo.

See stats here and pick as needed:

Note that the range dictates both dps and tracking.

Titanium Sabot or Depleted Uranium if you don't have a lot of support skills as they will not reduce your range and boost your tracking thus making you less scr*wed if something gets a bit close.
other wise go with emp or fusion.

You're sorta screwed by default with that ammo because by the time you've killed the enemy, it will probably be close enough for you to have been able to hit it with Phased Plasma, EMP or Fusion.

The DPS drop is just huge.

You should not use long range guns without spec at least 4 and T2 ammo because you'll be doing crap dps. Same for short range weapons, same for missiles. You do dmg, but it's ridiculous
