If it were an exploit, he would be banned. It's not an exploit, therefore he's doing it unimpeded.

Move to lowsec and try AFK mining, see how far it goes for you.
Move to lowsec and try autopiloting, see how far it goes for you.
Move to lowsec and try playing the market, see how far it goes for you.
Move to lowsec and try flying a freighter, see how far it goes for you.

Are you saying that... lowsec is different from hisec? I can't believe it.

They (CCP) slowly, but surely implement changes to correct and balance things like that, so name it what you will until then. ;)

What does any of that have to do with you bumping active players in a belt for ransom with them not being able to do anything at all about it?

If they are AFK mining, your ransom demands are useless since they don't even know you are there, so High/low does not apply in the comparison.
Autopiloting you do not seem to be trying to ransom, and again they most likely would not even know you are there, so high/low does not apply in the comparison.
Playing the market..... not sure where that even came from.
Flying a freighter.... See above.

Fun talk, but comment still stands. In low sec they can shoot back (and first without CCP), which removes your 'exploit' of the game mechanic. I have limited experience with pvp as a whole, being more of a miner, missioner and explorer in general, but I've danced around out in low sec a lot, and I can say with a fair amount of certainty, that the pilots you find out there would be more than happy to have you try those tricks with them. It would give them something to laugh about later on. Pirate

Have fun in the field,

Bumping has been around since the beginning of EVE, close to a decade now. Nothing new about it... If it broke the game, surely we would have heard about it before now, unless I was the first person to think of bumping a miner.

There is plenty a miner can do to defend himself against such actions, IF they have the courage. But I'll let you figure that part out on your own. Blink

Actualy there's not a whole lot they can do. Killing the bumper is the second most obvious solution (the first being go somewhere else) but it's not really practical.

The best defence against bumping is surely to stop giving a damn, ram him back until he realizes his time is better spent elsewhere, and go back to what you were doing. I mean if you're already mining, you must have a lot of patience...

Ever try ramming a nano-stabber with a Hulk, or even another Stabber? Kinda hard to hit when they are going that damned fast. Lol
