The whole naming convention is what screws people up. Forget the word “clone” and everything becomes much easier.

”Medical clone” = SP Protection Insurance.
“Jump clone” = Teleportation device.

They have nothing to do with each other. Jump clones let you move around instantly and store implants; medical clones keep your skills safe

I find it simpler to think of all my clones as jump clones. I don't even know which body is which any more.

If you think of it this way, even as a new player you have, effectively, one jump clone. But you need another to actually jump to.

Only the medical clone is special. You can only ever have one medical clone, and it stops being a medical clone as soon as you get podded into it.
