Other posters have already explained what needed explaining.

Seeing as how you apparently got it wrong, would you have any suggestion as to what could have been on the website that would have helped you to not get it wrong?




Maybe im a bit slow, i just never connected the A033 etc code to the corresponding match, maybe just have a little explanation or example displayed. Its pretty obvious for the quarter/semi finals etc as it states that.

After checking my bets placed, even tho it says match 33, it still has the winning team will it be possible to still get a payout for it?

I've just changed the text in the drop-down box of the bet-calculator from

"A049: Bet on the winning team"
to
"A049: (Match #49) Bet on the winning team"

Is that better - or wouldn't it have made any difference?

Just some really quick stats for the first 64 matches

951 total valid bets made
501 total winning bets

The winners bet a total of 19.204.000.000 ISK
And they won a total of 28.996.000.000 ISK paid out in prizes

Any other stats you'd like to know?

Betting option C136 and D139 are both "vote for a team to get to the semis". Do these options have different betting pools? Just an error?

The betting _deadline_ is different for C136 and D139 - Hence different pools.

The idea of the "letter prefix" is to make it easy to identify that you're dealing with a different deadline - Even though the outcome you are betting on is identical.

The best/worst example is

B133
C137
D140
A127
(listed in order of deadline)

They are all about predicting who wins the final match (and thus the entire tournament)

But as the deadline is different for each bettype, and timed such that less and less teams are left in the tournament, it ofc gets easier and easier to make the correct prediction.

B133 is harder to get right as 64 teams are still left (deadline over as of this writing btw.)
A127 is comparatively much easier to get right as at the time of the deadline (start of the match) there's only 2 teams left.

"Bet on one of the 32 teams left, NOT making it to the Finals (knock-out) stage."

would be better in line with lawyer language.

But it ought to be obvious... else the bet is rather pointless.

One thing that scares me are the rules about teams throwing a match or not showing up. Past history shows this is not something to be taken lightly. Betting on EVE Alliance Tournaments is like betting on pro wrestling. Rigged matches do happen and are applauded (even if they're rare). That's not something I'm comfortable risking a lot of isk on.

Not that there's anything you can do about it, and I think your rules are reasonable in that regard, but the way these things have played out over the years doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

Thown matches should be more likely at the end of the groups stage though, not on day one.

Ie. at the end, where some teams will have already qualified they could be bought to throw their 3rd match.
