First I love this game and have been playing longer than most. I try to read the forums every other day to keep up with what players are thinking. Everyone says Eve is growing and I would like to believe Eve will be around at least another 10 years. BUT, a chart tracking the all time daily average number of players on the Tranquility server shows a steady decline which alarms me. Please explain how there is growth when fewer characters play daily than ever before? As of this posting, the referenced chart was updated 34 minutes ago. http://eve-offline.net/?server=tranquility

The "All Time" section only goes back a few months. It's not showing the whole picture.

It's summer. Lots of people tend to enjoy this thing called The Outside in the summer. Some people refer to it as Null Sec. But people tend to be Outside more during summer months. I hear girls do this a lot. Which means guys also like to do it because girls have these things called "boobs" and soft skin and long flowing hair that reflects the sunlight in just the right ways...

Damn. I think I'll go Outside now.

Yup. Backwards.

If you read it the other way around, you see it only been declining for about six months.

all those charts are "now" on the left, "x time ago" on the right. backwards from most people's expectation

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

The "All Time" section goes back to 2006. You're reading it backwards.

Also, summer.

Backwards? You mean you read right to left instead of left to right? The other charts are not backwards, why would this one be? All time daily average does not mean just the last six months. An average number of players takes into account fewer players during the summer months...hence the word average.

Never ceases to amaze me how people stoutly believe that number of players online is related to number of accounts subscribed.

Still believe they have a drop in numbers despite the summer, ppl who have left due to recent events and ppl un subbing alts in protest at recent changes (dumb UI cough cough). We shall see in time though, EVE has had rocky times before and recovered.

The forums do not reflect what players are thinking.. it only represents a very small portion of them. But besides that, did we really need another "EVE is dieing" thread?

Hover over the top of the lines on the "All Time" Graph, you'll see the dates right there... newest dates are on the left.

Ok, I concede I was reading it backwards when compared to other stats. Indeed I know subscriptions have nothing to do with who is online at any given moment.

Anyone who quit over the UI change would have quit anyway because if you cannot handle that then there is no hope for you. Same goes for hulkageddon.

Let's not forget the sizable number of players now spending their weekends on the DUST beta instead of TQ.

Not a forum alt.

It never ceases to amaze me how people like you think that has any relevance.

If no one is playing, then no one is playing. Something is wrong with the game. Just because they haven't run out their subs/remaining PLEXes yet is irrelevant. Kinda hard to have fun in an MMO that everyone has stopped logging in to.
