If you add up the rankings you get a sort of "difficulty score" for each group. Those are sorted from most difficult to easiest:

Group 5 and Group 2 (tied) : 57
Exodus dot, Dead Terrorists, Heretics, Gorgons
and
Gzerofathers, FA, Agony, Dark Taboo

Group 7: 63
Suddenly Spaceships, Gypsyies, Pizza, Shadow Cartel

Group 4: 64
Verge of Collapse, Goons, Fearless, Capital Punishment

Group 6: 68
Raiden dot, Evzerok, Darkside dot, Brick Squad dot

Group 8: 70
Pandemic Legion, Rote Kapelle, RvB, Kill It With Fire

Group 1: 72
(HUN, Nulli, Black Legion, Choke Point)

Group 3: 77
NC dot, Mildly Intoxicated, Alpha Volley, TEST

So if you announcers want a world cup-ish gimmick, group 5 and group 2 are the "Groups of Death"

Interestingly, I just posted that I thought group 2,3,5 would be the most comeptetive of the tourney,and most fun to watch. It is cool that the math support 2 of those predictions, and says I'm way off on the third. We shall see. That said, I'll wager a large sum of isk that the winner of the tournament comes from group 4,6 or 8.
