Vargur vs Kronos for lvl 4

I like kronos more for guristas missions, and the varg more for angel missions, of course a paladin for bloods/sansha/drones! for mercs its fun to switch it up

so get all three!


tbh the varg would probably be better if only for different damage types... although the range on the kronos is pretty sweet. guess it would also depend on where you plan to mission

i like the kronos better, but if you only can buy one, take the vargur.

kronos for guristas and serpentis, it hits their weakest resists, where the vargur can't do large amounts of kinetic damage at all.

Vargur vs angels, blood raiders, drones, and sansha, but keep in mind that its T2 ammo only works well against angels

The paladin would outperform them both on shansha/blood/drones

Most other factions, like thukker, EOM, mercs, etc, have normal PC-type resists...EM hole in shields, EXP hole in armor, etc, so there isn't much of an advantage to using different damage types.

thermal is more or less good enough, the main issue with serps/guristas is I'd much rather be shooting rails at 50km than acs. well at least with serps a bunch will try to get into blaster range.

I use both as well, they both have their uses.

Vargur works great against angels, merc and rogue drones amongst others.
Kronos is excellent to use against guristas and serpentis mainly.

So it depends largely on where you do missions, although inn my opinion in the end the vargur wins out only because its more versatile.

Kronos is one of the worst marauders after Paladin.
Those 2 have useless bonus unlike Golem and Vargur.

Also Vargur does work at every space unlike Kronos.
I mean you can charnge your damage type and problem solved.
Can't do that on Kronos or Pally.

Basically if you can't change your damage type stop using that ship.

That's a bit strong for me - unless you're into ISK/hr, and I'm not so have no qualms doing AE in a megapulse Apoc.

This sounds more like inexperience to me. Kronos and Paladin are the two best marauders. Only thing Vargur can beat them at is killing Angels. Sure, it can change damage types, but only to a point. Kronos is doing Kinetic and Thermal damage. Pretty much every rat in the game is weak to one of those, so it has no need to. Paladin can do pretty good vs anything but Angels. Multifrequency and X-Ray crystals do enough thermal damage to still hit pretty well against Guristas/Serps(weak to therm anyway)/EoM. All three are good for mercs, though. Vargur's biggest problem is fighting in falloff.

And I dunno about you, but I happen to like the bonus on the Paladin and Kronos. Golem's is pretty much required and oddly, the Vargur has no damn ewar bonus, which is a bit messed up imo. Being able to pin something down with a web is great. Using a true sansha web on the paladin/kronos puts it at %82.5 percent speed reduction, and reaching 15km (19.5-ish km overheated) can reach most cruisers that happen to be dumb enough to get close. If you have to pick only one, I would have to ask where you're missioning and what are you fighting mostly. Caldari space fighting mostly Guristas and Serps? Kronos. Minmatar space fighting mostly Angels? Vargur.

I don't try to be rude but to me this sounds more like inexperience.

The coolest thing about Vargur it doesn't have ewar. This is a good thing, not bad.
Uber ACs tracking and really high dps (900+ with only guns) makes it a king of marauders.

For many years of doing missions I never had a situation when I thought "I wish I had a web or anything to shoot things faster".
You just don't need a web on this ship.

You use AB instead of a web and it solves falloff problem easily.
Also having 60+km of falloff is more then enough. There are no ships that orbit you that far.

Did you ever fly Vargur?
I have every marauder and this ship is my choice for every mission.

Varg is a beast it is maelstorm on steroids and some experimental tech trow in for good measure :)..think about this it have same dps as mael same alpha basically same ship but.

It uses half less guns
Bonus to falloff
Bonus to tracking
Bonus to tractor range
Bonus to ship resist
Have (in theory) 8 guns+extra 3 high slots!!! nuts
Is Tempest class hull and that is auto awesome.
