I am 30 days from a respec to int memory and I'm trying to decide if I should add another 14 days for Covert ops 5.

The only advantage I see in this skill is for Stealth Bombers and while every little bit is good, I don't find myself running SB gangs very often and I'm not sure if there is any other real advantage to training it up. Thoughts?

This skill is used for two frigs (cov. op. and stealth bomber) and only lvl 4 is req. for recon ships which are awesome for small gang warfare.

So going for level 5 depends on what you plan.
- It helps a lot when fitting cov op frig; you get 0CPU usage for cloak which is almost a must for any good cov. op. setup AND 10% to strength of scan drones is helpful for scanning high-end anomaly.
- Also 15% to torp damage and 5% to bomb is nice to have when flying stealth bomber.
Now if you don't fly these ships often then there are better skills to learn.

if you don't fly in sb gangs regularly then i'd say IV is sufficient. especially if you have more important skills to train (eg advanced weapon upgrades, or navigation skills etc)

Yes! It's only 14 days.

Think long term. Cool

If you spend a fair amount of time scanning in a covops, it's worth it. If you scan in a T3 or don't mind unbonused scanning (personally I do; I'm spoiled now) then skip it on that front.

If you ever fly stealth bombers, it's worth it. It's a huge bonus to damage, one of the biggest single boosts in the game.

Otherwise, sure, skip it.

If you use CovOps to scan for several hours/week, it really makes a difference. When scaning a WH system with 40 sigs, getting each one to 25% in three scans instead of four is a big deal, and quickly getting to 100% with combats is the difference between juicy kills and no kills.

In your case: You didn't mention scanning at all, and you say you don't use SBs much, so it's likely there are better uses of your time. Potentially useful level 5 spaceship command skills are Recon Ships V (makes already good recon ships great) and Logistics V (almost a prerequisite for many fleet doctrines, a must have for any serious Logi pilot, and the major prereq for triage carriers).

If you probe at all regularly, you want it at 5.

i loled...
hate to break it to you but if you take 3-4 scans PER SIG to ID it, then youre doing something horribly, horribly wrong.

For what it is worth, it takes less time to train racial Electronic Subsystem to 5 and use a T3 with the same scanning bonus. Covert + nullifier also makes T3 great for probing.

Scanning, for exploration and so forth? IIRC Covert Ops skill increases the scan strength of the T2 exploration frigates.

Even for scanning, 4 is fine, you're not gonna save much time with the last point.

I wouldn't bother unless you're in SBs most of the time, basically.
