So what is the punishment for metagaming?

I definitely appreciate the time that all the teams put into preparing for this tournament.

Also it does seem that both teams did honestly try to progress by winning the match. I'm not trying to say anybody threw the match intentionally.

That being said, as a spectator, I still think it's wrong for one team to buy points in the AT. Earn them, if you can, and otherwise get out of the way and let the better/luckier pilots move on. Someone has to lose, and hey, this time it was you. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and continue on with life like a responsible person. Better luck next time.

Every RL sport that is worth watching explicitly bans betting or deal-making on the part of the participants, for the very reason that it's boring for spectators to watch and the sport itself does better without it. If Eve wants to grow in popularity, I don't believe they can just continue to allow matches and points to be bought.

Personally I have been very disappointed by the low number of people watching this tournament. Meta-gaming and a reputation for the losers winning due to it no doubt has contributed to this.

Everyone who replied to this thread supporting meta-gaming so far is in the "I'm already doing it, F you for suggesting the rules should change" group. Eve stands to make NO MORE MONEY from catering to you. However if they make AT more fun for spectators to watch, they could make A LOT MORE MONEY from doing so.

$0.02 more.

Thanks for thinking I'm bigtime !
Personally I consider myself a has-been, you're wrong tho I don't always defend metagaming, f.i. when goons exploited the FW game mechanics to make 5 trillion I was quite vocal in my support of CCP's reversing their profits.

But enough about me, how you doin Baske?

I am glad you stopped doing it, if you are speaking the truth. I am not going to get into details, but you are perfectly aware of what I am talking about I am sure. I really liked you untill that moment, honestly.

Not playing much EVE, only peeking in now and then....but account is rolling nonstop nevertheless.

I am just a crappy pilot with a bloody awesome character TBH :)

You're talking about corp theft ? Sorry to disappoint you but I still do that occasionally, hell that's what people (occasionally) hire us at the Guiding Hand to do to people.
I have no idea what moment you're talking about, was it in 2005 since that's when you left Tribal Trust of Pator ?

Eve Online in my opinion will always attract the sort of person that enjoys meta-gaming, so my 2 cents says you're wrong it will make more money.

It's a sandbox and as such anything goes as long as you're not cheating, long may it continue.

Eve without meta-gaming would just be boring.

2005 incident yeah. Not corp theft. I am not going into details in here, that wouldn't suit my personality. Anyway, I hope you are all good now....Say hello to all the nice ladies up there from me, I miss them visiting copenhagen a bit more occassionally.

The only punishable offense is deliberately trying to ruin the show. Nobody's done that yet.

This exactly. If anything we've made it better as it gives everyone someone to root against.
