Sorry if this is a repeat of a previous post, though I couldn't seem to find anything.

What I'm trying to figure out is if you can have a PI alt on the same account with PI installations on both characters producing materials?

Is the long answer much different?

Your question is a little vague

Do you mean can you share PI Installations?, in that case no
Do you mean can 1,2 or 3 chars on 1 account each have independent PI installations?, in that case yes, but bear in mind that 1 char can not access any resources in another's custom offices, or have anything to do with other characters PI installations on a planet, for that you'll have to haul it back to station or have another account in a hauler at the relevant customs office so PI Char 1 can put stuff in a jet can (or orca's corp hangar array) and you can then log in PI Char 2, who then can get the stuff the haul char has.

PI is character based, not corp based or anything as convenient. If you want to say extract 2 materials on PI Char 1, 2 different materials on PI Char 2, and then for PI Char 3 to do some funky cooking and end up with a final product, then your options are swapping with a hauler, or probably the easiest way is for PI Char 1 & 2 to haul their stuff to station, contract it to PI char 3 if you've only got 1 account, if you've got more than 1 account, have the 2nd account hold all the stuff and trade the required stuff to whichever char needs it to save contract fees and hassle.
