Missing loot?

When I return to salvage some of my lvl 4 missions I have noticed some of the rooms have nothing to loot. As I finish each room I mark one of the wrecks so when I finish I can get to each room. But some of the time there is nothing there. Should I wait to hand in the mission after salvaging or does downtime have something to do with it? The last mission I did was an easy one that had 3 rooms and when I returned with my Noctis there was nothing to salvage in any of the rooms. Sometimes there are 1 or 2 rooms with no salvage but this is the first time I got no salvage from any of the rooms. What am I doing wrong here?

How long are you waiting? I don't know the amount of time wrecks stay in space, but it's no longer than a few hours.

On an average it usually takes me 45 min. to 1 1/2 hours to finish most of my missions. I then return and hand in the mission and launch my Noctis to salvage.

noticed this also, its like you have to bookmark each room in a site or some loot vanishs,

i have noticed this when i mark the final room and in a 2-3 room mission its like the loot does not all compress to 1 room

There are really only 3 non-buggy explanations that I can think of. You get your bookmarks wrong (which should't happen if you bookmark the wrecks), someone else has cleared out your loot, or you waited too long. If you're taking 90 minutes to finish a mission, you have a very small margin of error with respect to getting your loot out before it expires. Evolopedia says 2 hours. If you're certain you have time left when losing wrecks, you might want to investigate ninja salvaging.

When working large missions with multiple rooms, best to salvage and loot each room after it's been cleared. That way you make sure none of the wrecks despawn as well as cut out the chance of a Ninja Salvager being able to collect it.

I've noticed that the actual amount of NPC wrecks containing loot has seriously dropped, been like that for a little while now, basically since CCP decided to cut out Gun Mining in an attempt to urge players to do mining in ORE ships. I believe it happened around the time of the removal of Rogue Drone loot, also all Meta Level 0 modules and Cap Booster Charges have been removed and replaced with 1x Metal Scrap.

If someone is ninja salvaging my loot is there a way to find out who? I mean doesn't all my loot show up as yellow wrecks. If so, shouldn't I know who has salvaged it. Also, as you have stated DMC with 3 to 5 room missions I guess I should salvage after the completion of each room but this is a bit tedious switching ships in mid mission. Since each room averages about 6 to 10 million I hate to lose any of them!

I don't think OP is being NInja'd. He would have seen some flashy red by now.

@OP: Either bookmark each room. Or loot *before* you "complete" mission. Or get a maurader and loot-as-you-go.

Kinda strange, I can go collect loot and salvage AFTER turning in missions like Extravaganza wich has 5 rooms plus a bonus room, 1 wreck bookmarked in each room.................

Guess OP has to check the time from killing first NPC till turning in the mission. If that stay's under 2 hours the wrecks should be there if not ninja-ed.
Be sure to have no down time between completion/turning in and salvaging/looting.

If you're not able to loot/salvage before downtime, the wrecks are gone if you relog after downtime.
No matter if you finished the mission at the agent or not. And no matter if the mission goal is fullfilled or not.
In Downtime many things are cleaned up, one of these are wrecks.

If the mission goal isn't completed before downtime, the mission will reset.
Wrecks will be deleted, NPC ships will respawn and you can do the mission again from start after downtime.

If the mission goal is completed before DT, the deadspace will become cleaned up during downtime.
Then you only can go finish the mission at the agent and ask for a new one.

The longest missions i do are the extravaganzas and they take me about a hour or so. I go back to my station pick up my noctis and can loot everything in about 15 minutes flying back through every pocket of the mission. There is not much reason to turn the mission in before looting due to how long they give you before you lose the bonus reward.

Salvage is salvage. Loot is loot. Don't mix the two.

I have been doing AE4. I would do first three rooms, then bring noctis to loot and salvage. Then do last two rooms, then bring noctis again. I have not seen anything unusual.

Gone Berserk is good mission. Every wreck has loot.

The last time I did AE4 was in a Myrm. Just wanted to see if I could do it with a BC. Well it took a little longer to take out the battleships and when I returned with the Noctis the first two rooms were empty. I might be that I'm not getting back in time on some of the longer missions.

A couple of days I have run missions back to back, making bookmarks as I go and keeping an eye on the time the bookmark was made.
3 times now, before it had hit the 2 hour mark (say 10-15 minutes before it) and the wrecks are gone.
From now on, I only allow 2 missions max before salvaging/looting, or one if it's a real long annoying one, like when the npcs are scarred of playing with multis :>

Chances are OP that you had left it too long. To be safe, grab your space vacuum ship after each mission

Sound advise. Need to keep an eye on the clock more often.

I normal do 6-10 missions at a time, what ever i can within 1 hour.

Each pocket i bookmark SYSTEMNAME TIME like Nakugard 19:41.

When iv been doing missions for one hour i finish the one im doing and then start salvage going to the bookmark with the lowest time stamp.

But i also make sure i have at least 15 min from the 2 hour limit when i warp to the first bookmark.

Holy christ that's got to be the most annoying, convoluted and stressful mission running system of all times.

@OP: Easy solution, don't turn in the mission until AFTER you've finished looting/salvaging. That way, all wrecks, gates and UI warp-to is still active.

If someone steals your loot, they will show red in local and if you're on the same grid, will flash red. However, it is legal for players to salvage any wreck they find regardless of it's color and they will not turn red.

White = owned by you, your corp and your fleet members.
Yellow = owned by someone else.
Blue = abandoned, free for all

I understand not wanting to switch ships after each pocket has been completed but if you want the loot and salvage, then it's the best option to do, especially for high level missions with multiple pockets. Some players say wrecks and cans last for 2 hours before despawning, I think it's less than that and I always try to loot and salvage them within 1 hour. If you loot and salvage each pocket after completion, you won't lose anything other than maybe the mission bonus pay, depending on how long it takes you to complete the mission.

What I do is keep an eye on the bonus time. Usually loot and salvage each pocket when completed and when the last pocket is done, just bookmark a wreck, turn mission in, warp to bookmark and collect the last bit of loot and salvage. I haven't had any problems doing that and always get the bonus time pay.
