Bored I join RvB. I am accepted within 15 minutes. Within 10 minutes I am fleet.

Meh-blah I've seen this before... but THEN!

No joke, typical fleet stuff goes on, but then soon I'm in big battle. Fleet Commander is calling shots and sounds like a 1930s baseball game announcer. I target secondary and am taken down immediately (No doubt because I am the worst of threats - a red among reds for sure.)

Think the game is mainly over and warp to station so I'm not accidentally pod'd. I'm not moved in yet so I don't have any ships and that turned out to be too bad because 20 minutes later this fight is still going on. fC is out of ammo but still naming names.

Battle just ended. Fleet won. They are looting fast as possible

If you mean how the FC chose targets, I'm not sure. If you mean why/how I was taken down, I don't know. I warped to the group and ended up being about 15km from the secondary target. I locked, fired and was right then locked onto too. I was in a destroyer and died in a few seconds.

It was all very hectic and I need to work on a low cost fit that will give me a little staying power. But they didn't want a lot of people in cruisers so I probably just need not to warp to the middle of the fight next time.

After some time in RvB (give it a few days) you'll find that many people fly around in double plated Mallers with Frigate sized guns just so they can whore on as many killmails as possible before they die while putting out a measly 100dps. It's the RVB way.

Funny. I just looked at my combat log and three people in Mallers got a piece of me.

Strange though because our FC asked most of our people in cruisers to ship down. Oh well, whatever. It was fun.

People like to forum ***** about RvB but in reality you will probably be getting into more fights than most. Play the game however you want.

Dessie gets taken down first in typical RvB frig blobs. It has relatively high gank for the low tank. Fly something people ignore, like... Punisher.

And this is why RvB is utter ****, it teaches you to be useless to your fleet, your corp and be the worst type of km whore ever.

No one said the frigate is useless, just that it's bad for the fleet.
If a punisher is optimal, why are people flying destroyers? If it's filling a niche role, and is best at that, what role is it it's filling, and why isn't the FC already requesting people to bring said ships?

RvB has no fleet doctrine whatsoever. No logistics, no ewar, nothin'. Only thing that happens fleet tactics wise is having scouts and intel on enemy movements and fleet comp. Typical fleet vs fleet is 'warp to 0 on x', and start shooting each other while loosely following FC's primary/secondary. It's just mindless fleet brawl.

RvB is however a good way to pass the time, get a alt, train him up, put it in rvb, hop on it when you are bored and chances are you'll be shooting stuff 30 minutes later.

You should have joined Blue, then you would have been a red among blues, or something... what.
