With all due respect for your success, Ethan, you can't compare the success or lack thereof of a capsuleer outfit with the achievements of an entire faction. You know that, I'm sure. Not to mention snipes like that are, well, pretty low in my opinion, And yes, I am aware that Jev used provocative language there, and will say they were not the words I'd have used.

Let me get this straight - you like them because they're fine, upstanding citizens with no love for drug pushers and unapologetic amoral bastards. Hm.

No, I respect them because they're honest about being unapologetic amoral bastards and because they've helped me several times in the past. If you're going to twist my words, at least do it competently.

Besides what you feel the point is.. what prompted me to speak up was your claim that you disliked the Cartel for some sort of hipocrisy regarding the business we're in on our part.

It is, but I can't be bothered to go into it with you if you can't already see it. There's about one member in your alliance who'd actually be worth the time it would take explaining it to - and in case you didn't catch the massive hint I'm dangling here (which I find increasingly likely), it isn't you.

You should know me well enough to know that wasn't a snipe at you, or at Naraka Myrhial. Blink

Seems the banner is no longer visible.

No, standards means I have criteria by which the Amarrians could perform an act that would be worthy of my respect. Given your past track record they're pretty damn high, but you could meet them. I'll openly admit I don't think the Empire has the courage, humility or self-respect to perform such an act, but there's still an outside chance it could perform an act worthy of my respect. Sansha's Nation, in contrast, could not, short of self-termination.

A while ago, an Amarrian pilot freed one million slaves into the care of a Minmatar organisation, seeking neither recognition or reward, in accordance with the teachings of St. Ageroth and St. Junip.

Fair enough, now I'm more awake I see you said hibernated multiple times. We only did that once!

And Andreus dear, if you have something to explain, just do it. Contact whoever in Naraka you feel is worthy of your time and get it over with, or make a new IGS thread if you must continue to do this in public.

I think it is time to let this particular thread fade, since it has mostly drifted away from its original subject and is currently used by pirate organizations to debate each other's merits and faults.

I must say I am somewhat suprised that this is the first subject on the new IGS to reach a page count of 10. I knew virgins were a sensitive symbol in many cultures, didn't realize it was this sensitive an issue.

To be frank, I think the symbolism was more or less the last thing anyone was discussing.

Incidentally, you never addressed the point I made. But judging by the fact you removed your banner, I'll assume that you noted it to some at least degree.

Good for him. He has my respect.

Your society, however, is going to have to do better than riding the accomplishments of one altruistic man. It didn't compel him to do these things. It would probably, in fact, attempt to reclaim these freed slaves along with the rest of the Minmatar in the ongoing attempt to conquer Republic space you've got going right now.

It is quite telling that the generosity of a single pilot exceeds the generosity of Doriam II by a few orders of magnitude. Said generosity was the only act of goodwill by the Amarr towards the Republic that I know of (I'm happy to get corrected here) in respect to the only request the Minmatar ever had of the Amarr.

The fruits of a hundred years of peace, hope and trust in the Amarrian word, paled by the act of a single individual. Indeed, I have found that there are many individuals in the Empire who would work to end this conflict - but the Empire as a whole does not.

The only other act of this kind by the Empire was Jamyl's emancipation act, which required an invasion to make it happen and was accompanied with a declaration to reclaim the rest of the Minmatar.

While I understand that those Amarr who work against the Empire feel unappreciated when people equate the Empire and the Amarr, it's easy to understand how this happens.

My apologies for being part of dragging the thread off-topic, but it seems that most was said on the original topic and so it branched off into others.

Oh no you don't.

You don't get to decide that a thread's over just because your side happens to be losing the argument woefully.

I missed the banner that spawned this contentious little argument. Does anyone care to share? I am betting that it's something rather tame that has been blown out of proportion by Merdaneth's detractors, but I would like to see it for myself before settling on that assumption.
