That is to say, Is it possible to douse another frig with enough torp's to end them before they get into firing range?

No. Or rather, not anymore.

Is there much of a call for the roll in small roams or is that better suited to the covops vessels?

Not really as far killing other frigs. For solo PvP, yes. Target larger and softer boats. Every Noctis in every wormhole, everywhere, fears the sight of a decloaking bomber more than anything else in the universe.

The best way to find out is actually try to kill a friend in a t1 frigate before he reaches you. Bomber don't have much in the way of EHP so a frig closing in on you will be an end. Stealth bombers also have the largest sig radius of all frigates in combination with being the slowest so good luck kiting another frigate. Another major issue is torps which will do about 10 damage per volley on another frigate hull.

Obviously, I've greatly mistaken the SB's roll in the game. I do like the idea of noctis hunting though.

Most fun I ever had in one was doing precisely that. Once you get to C4+, there's almost always a Noctopus slurping up sleeper salvage while his corp runs off to clear another site. If you're fast, you can pop that fatty, grab some juicy sleeper salvage and be out before his/her corp can get back to you.

To be perfectly honest I dont have the isk or sp to do it right now but I was thumbing through ships for dastardly ideas and it occurred as a flippant whim. Maybe once I get settled into a routine then get bored with that routine I'll pick the idea back up. Thanks for the tips & advice...this one certainly stays on a back burner.

It´s possible to solo in a sb, really depends on how much isk you're willing to spend on it and what other things you have access too(implant sets, links etc).

Cool flick. Thanx for sharing. I watched it on my phone so I couldn't tell what kind of drone you were using. Webbers?

Yes you can solo, but your choices are limited, better get a friend or more to do it in a small gang then you will have a much broader target spectrum. Small bomber gangs with a prober, are the bane of 0.0 carebears.

Other than soft targets, your best results will be finding a ratting ship that it not tanked to your damage type, particularly T1 battleships.

The combination of your bomb's alpha damage (vs their low active tanked EHP) and high DPS can often mean you'll blow straight through most PVE tanks.

Fit as many damps as you can (2 is ideal) loaded with res damp scripts and the BS will take a long time to lock you back, giving you enough time to take him out.

SBs can handle a few types of ships.

T1 BS (though tricky solo if they are aware)
t3 BC (maybe not the Talos)
SBs (takes more torps than it worth though)
LSE cruisers (if they don't move much)

However, if you are inexperienced, expect to die a few times until you learn how to judge targets.

If you want a tech 2 frigate to kill other frigates with then Interceptors and AFs are designed for just that role.
