ok FINE! you did it! you rustled my jimmies so here is some math for you:

assuming that every explorer has a 50% chance to find at least one good site per day, the chance to NOT find a good site for 7 consecutive days is (1 - 0.5)^10 ~= 0.8% this means that in the process of a week, one in 128 explorers will find jack. now if there are as many as 1280 explorers in eve and one in 10 of them feels the need to write an exploration nerf topic whenever he is on a one-week dry spell, we will have to bear these topics EVERY ******* WEEK!

Random is random, and CCP is CCP. Could you please do a statistical analysis on the probably of CCP releasing a patch that breaks something in exploration, if the chance is higher then 0.8% you have proven that the OP came to the statistical correct conclusion when he decided CCP was the root of the problem.

How is (1-0.5)^10 = 0.8% ?

(1-0.5)^10 = 0,0009765625

Or did you mean 1-(0.5)^7 = 99.2% chance of finding a good site per week, given the probability of a 50% chance per day over the course of 7 days?

Which, when turned around, means 0.8% chance of not finding a good site.

Your number is right, but your math is confusing.

Anyways... exploration is sucks, the rewards are minimal and people need to stick to mining and leave my sites alone *nods*

Exploration is actually still pretty good if you don't loiter around the same spots. Previously I could find nothing within 4 hops of my home system, since I was basically too lazy to venture out and everybody else kept my systems picked clean.

But in the last week I needed to bump up my standings for two alts, so stuffed some Strategic cruisers and assault frigs into an orca and slowly crawled the 20 hops to the nearest system containing both a security agent with a storyline agent for the corp I needed, probing down everything along the way.

Since I was traveling through no-mans land in high sec, there were tons of sites to complete, averaging around 1 3/10 or 4/10 per jump plus a bunch of unrateds, giving me about 600 million in dead space and faction mods (including deadspace small and medium shield booster) for what was otherwise going to be a boring grind.

Yeah, most of the sites had crap and I couldn't get a single escalation, but there was definitely enough premium loot to make the slow crawl worth the effort. I'm sure I will go back to complaining though when I try to reproduce the effort again next week.

I don't think you got my point.

Exploration is slow, boring and not good isk so keep mining if you want good cash... and stay away from my sites...

If you are selling Maelstroms for great profit somewhere, you don't really broadcast it so others can start selling them in the same place you are.

Encouraging people to do exploration is directly counterproductive to your own endeavours.

Stop encouraging people.

Especially considering mining and missions having vastly better profits anyways.

The claim is that the increase in population and interest in exploration will have a negative effect on exploration.

The finite number of systems in the eve universe starts to get over crowded, more people are fighting for the same sites, which in return lowers the income from exploration and decrease the all-over experience. While it's possible to increase the number of active sites to acommidate more players doing exploration, this would result in the marked being flooded with faction and deadspace items, reducing their price.

Weather or not this is a valid concern is hard to say, and depends a lot on how the exploration spawn mechanics and timers work. In the end it all boils down to isk/hr, if it low then running level 4missions a lot of people are going to switch to missions, which decrease the amount of faction and deadspace items on the marked, making it more profitable again.

hmmm.. as much as i would like to help you, basic arithmetic and fractions are not the easy to explain. Normally it is included in elementary education, while you are seeking help in the worst of places, i'll do what i can to you help you.

Math for kids

You may want to have a look at this web site, i am not sure if it is free or not, or weather or not you are ready for mathematics on this level. I hope this helps you.
