Asteroid types in Null sec...... am I missing something ?

I have been running missions and mining in hi-sec to build up enough liquid ISK to afford a move over to null. So I started scouting around in some NPC 0.0 and -0.2 sectors to get a feel for the local population in different areas, work out logi routes and safe routes, set up warp to book marks etc and generally sorting out the logistics for making a move.

I started out by travelling from the Forge through low sec and over to minmatar null sec NPC area and started looking at the belts and all isaw in there were the normal roids i'd expect to find in high / low sec ? Thats doesn't seem right ? or was I just in a high throughput solar system where miners sweep through every day after downtime and clean the area out of all the high end ores ?

Do you ahve to scan down hidden belts that contain the high end ores in null or do they only appear in proper sovereign null and not NPC ? It seems pretty pointless taking on all the extra risk of being in null if the roid types are no different. or maybe I am missing something really basic here ?

abc's and mercoxit spawns only in the lowest security status systems, most of null mining is shite.

you will be stepping on someones toes once you find a spot, so dont expect a warm welcome, unless you mean warm as in heated blasters

You are about to engage in an arguement with a forum alt,  this is your final warning.

I expect this and I am fully prepared to melt some faces with my lazors if it comes to it :)

First rule of EvE be prepared to fight for what you want, so I will certainly go in there prepared and bring some back up to light the whole gaf up like a christmas tree if need be :)

true security status

this site linked is quite old, but should be somewhat helpful

you will also find offgird belts if you have a fast ship and time to search, and the grav sites will be good in most of null afaik

Most asteroid belts in null are garbage. Only those with low true sec get you anything good. We have a -0.5 system that spawns a little bit of crokite, but not much else. Other systems can get you mercoxit and such but the way to mine high ends in null is through industry upgrades. It's kinda lame but it's what it is. I actually want more plag rocks in null (mexallon is hard to come by) and veld actually.

The way to mine in nullsec outside wormholes is to join a corp/alliance. Any other way is really a waste of time.

generally i mine in grav sites rather than astroid belts but that's not strictly true.

once i've cherry picked the grav sites of arkonor i head back to belts as they have the 5% variant of bistot unlike the grav sites i find. (then again my scanning skills are terrible and can only scan down large med and small sites, not sure what's in the xl sites.)

then there's mercoxit but that ore is like trying to compare apples to oranges, it's all on the same supermarket shelf but they're not as similar as you'd hope.

So yeah, like others pointed out, good minerals spawn in the so called "hidden belts".

Have a read on this:
http://dl.eve-files.com/media/1205/Bloodtear_Industy_Index_Report_v3.pdf

If you are serious about mining, that’s your bible.

All alliances have logistics/manufacturing/mining corps, and they are as important as the pew pew guys. Hell, even the goons have em. So finding a null alliance won’t be hard actually, the catch is that you will be expected to do more than just carebearing in their space. Pirate

But you can easily out weight those requirements if you mine with alts (5+), or if you have a combat alt that you can jump on when needed. You can buy a combat alt, if you can afford it, or you can train one to fit meta equipment in a month or so.

Or you can join 0.0 mining corp like mine, where we dont have to do any CTAs or PvP ops and you can just mine the hidden gravimetric sites :)

And yes, as said 10 times allready, you need systems with really low security status for high end ores and they are mined out really fast anyway.

I used to mine in constellation which had security from -0,6 to -0,9 which means i got lots of high end ores, but i managed to mine it out solo with just 3 hulks .... it was like 7 systems. Than had to continue in hidden sites. But its good "bonus" if you can get system with them in belts.

I was always starving for mex trying to build ammo in scalding pass. Then one day we got a hauler rat spawn, loaded with the stuff :D

Think I still had quite a decent pile when we got kicked out.... shame that.
