You remind me of those people who ask for Ninja Gaiden and Dark Souls to be easier, clearly they didnt get the idea of the underlying games. Same with EVE, EVE wouldnt be fun if it wouldnt be tedious in some areas, if the time involvement wouldnt be big if the Death Penalty wouldnt be harsh.

The game is simply not for you, but dont think you can justify it with calling others old farts who hide behind other stuff. Your brain is just more fit for easy satisfaction than those who play eve who look for something harder (which is more satisfying in my book in the end)

With your suggestions on what Eve "needs" you would completely destroy it.

Eve made my heart pump, **** my pants and be nervous wether i can escape the ****** situation i maneuvered myself into in 0.0 keeping me on the edge of the seat. No shooter ever. EVER will be able to copy that thrill except for Arma, but that is exactly like eve. Unforgiving, brutal and hard.

DayZ by the way taps into the same, and thats why i still believe in this market, some programmers understud that some gamers want and need harsh environments.

Get me dust for pc, and I'd play it. And it's not because Eve is too hard or demanding for me, just because I like diversity in the games I play.

100% this. Diversity. I dont demand a game that can do it all, that wouldbe foolish to think.

Dust offers what the EVE experience badly needs - "pick up and play" quick-entry, casual-friendly gameplay. Seperating out the casual playstyle into a closely linked but seperate game is an ingenious way of squaring that circle.

It would be considerably more ingenious were it cross-platform. However I understand the economics of console-exclusive deals during the development phase so its understandable.

Not sure it'll last but I'm sure we'll soon see recruitment spam in Eve for players with a PS3 Smile

well this gives me hope for dust514

I'm guessing all those who quit or just don't have the time for Eve will flock to this game since sometimes Eve can get way too hardcore for others to enjoy it.

Now that another window into the Eve universe is open, it can fit with others playstyles accordingly

still waiting on that PC version though...Blink

console is for fifa, pc is for fps.

im playing Dust, I like the concept - it reminds me a little of C&C Renegade, I just wouldnt play it a lot due to the console FPS problem.

Cross platform? On FPS? Never will happen. Console controls cannot compare to keyboard and mouse for FPS; PC players would slaughter the console players by the thousands. And it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with skill, a keyboard and mouse is just that much more efficient then a console controller.

That being said, it would have been great to get a player base from all the major gaming platforms for dust. The more the merrier IMO.

Dust already has KBM support. CCP confirmed this months ago.

Do you play Dust? It doesn't sound like you do. It is not really casual-friendly at all. You need to learn the skill tree, and make a skill plan. If you put your SP all over the place you are not going to be very effective on the field. You need to set up fittings and deal with PG/CPU. When you die you lose your weapon and equipment. Dust is to FPS what EVE is to MMOs. It is not the casual friendly game you are making it out to be.

I hope the creator of EVE Mon adds Dust support. The last thing I need is another 3rd party program for my CCP games :P It will be equally as important to have a skillplan in Dust as it is in EVE.

Edit: This is not a bash on Dust at all, if anything it is a compliment. There is a giant hole in the market for a hardcore, tactical shooter. Not all FPS fans are braindead (like the OP kinda appears to be), many of us want more substance in our game. It looks like Dust is going to offer that. Dust has huge potential, we will see what it looks like at release.

Yes I do play dust, I’m not saying it’s an easy game, I enjoy it very much only trouble is the server keeps going down, I agree with you about the skill tree and I’m still learning about the game, it was a surprise though to discover that none of the current Eve ships are currently being used and a joy to find a battle, at the moment I just train in a similar style to that of Eve, Eft and Evemon would be a great advantage.

I haven’t played EVE very much over the last 5 months, I have lost interest in all the politics and poorly balanced game mechanics, however I have had a great time playing Dust, it’s so easy to form squads, characters are less defined by your own personality and getting killed is less problematic, its great shooting people in the head instead of a pod, it’s made me think than EVE online is full of old time gamers who hide behind politics and manipulating game mechanics, perhaps you could say the 9 year old game is getting too long in the tooth even with updates, just a bunch of old farts hanging on to what they believe is rightly theirs, let’s face it, space is unlimited in size and potential species, even uncharted with no A-Z guide, EVE’s nothing like that!, more a Facebook with generic mechanics.
So I’m curious how many Eve players play dust? And are Eve characters more superior to Dust characters?

I'm hyped on both games right now. I love FPS but but what bugs me about it is the monotony and the feeling I'm not accomplishing anything in the long term with games like BF3.. Once I unlock a certain weapon the game basically ends for me, I think DUST will be different in that there's more to it than just trying to unlock a certain weapon.

I'm pretty fail at social games and with my age/history of my pilot (i have no player corp history except an NPC corp) I am exiled from joining EVE corps because no one believes that I'm not an alt. I was so paranoid for 2 years that I didn't join any corps. But I realize now how silly that was standing as it is the most I would loose is a hundred or so million from a recruitment scam, which is not much of a risk now that I realize it.

it's too late because no one will take a chance recruiting me so my best hope is with DUST where I can just shoot ppl in the face in the EVE universe and not have to worry about speaking the right eloquent words to them. From what I've played of DUST I'm already satisfied with the action, the times I saw teamplay come together it was beautiful despite the rough edges of it being in beta.

I'm not a rambo god but when ppl know how to play as team in FPS I shine. I hope with DUST that I find my way into a good corp for both my pilot and my merc, but even if I don't find that I'm used to playing FPS without a clan, I look for random people playing as a team and tag along with them..

The fact that I loved what I've played of DUST and I am very familair with EVE's universe I'm proby going to be playing mostly DUST but I'm hoping I can transfer isk from my pilot to my merc without having to mule it through a corp possibly get ripped off before the isk makes it to my merc. Still no word on if that will be possible or not, to interchange isk between pilot/merc.
