Steps to take to stop hating the Internet:
1. Relax.
2. Turn off your computer and go outside for a few hours a day. Play some sports. It is also recommended to take a 15-minute break every hour while using a computer.
3. Get a spouse. This helps a lot.
4. If all of the above fails, disconnect your modem and seek immediate counseling.

InternetSpaceship, just look at this. This is what I was talking about. I'm not sure if we're actually talking to a literal child, or if it's a manchild acting like a smaller child.

Dear sir,

Please let me introduce you to Wikipedia's definition of "modem":

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modem

Quote:

A modem (modulator-demodulator) is a device that modulates an analog carrier signal to encode digital information, and also demodulates such a carrier signal to decode the transmitted information.

This said, quite a few Internet Sevice Providers all over the world (a good example would be AT&T in the United States) use devices called "modems" to supply internet to households via analog phone lines. Currently, the most popular type of modem is the ADSL modem used by majority of the world's population to access the internet.

Please add this to the goon wiki. It will help the already bright population of the alliance gain superior knowledge.

Did you just call AT&T a 'Service Provider'?

I'll just leave this here. I now understand why your application to Goonswarm wasn't rejected.

Fly safe guys. I'll keep updating this topic with more gems from the recruitment channel.

Technically, that's more of a CSU/DSU than it is a modem.

No, a CSU/DSU and a modem are two different things. ADSL and Cable connections do not work over a modem, they work over a CSU/DSU. Different terms, different things.

It behaves as a modem for an entire LAN, yes, but it is not a modem. That's just a convenient way to describe how it works without getting into a technical discussion of why they are different.

I don't have a problem with your description, but more with your incredibly smug assertion that only you are correct about this. Particularly when you aren't.

Edit: I'll wait for you to finish googling CSU/DSU.

Seriously.

As the definition says, a modem translates analog signal to digital. Whatever you call an ADSL modem, it is still a modem, as it converts the analog signal used by some older phone hubs to digital.

This topic is not regarding modems, however. I discourage offtopic posts.

It would be a lot more constructive to simply point out "GSF don't recruit ingame" and move on with your life, or identify recruitment scammers from other corps, where this information wouldn't be just noise.

Hello there bros and sis',

I appreciate this thread. If you ask me, by tolerating this kind of behaviour, any corp (whether in the CFC or elsewhere) shows disrespect for it's own members ... who were at some point themselves recruited .... and clearly demonstrates a completely unacceptable level of narcissistic adolescence. It does more to harm your own corp than anything anyone else could do ...... even spies.

I like being part of the CFC but there are two things I'll never be able to comprehend.... "shtting up local" ... and this!

I would like to point out that there *are* corps within the CFC who can be trusted to act with integrity with respect to recruiting. I take pride in our recruiting team working in a transparent and completely above-board manner and they are carefully selected to avoid any underhanded BS..... so it is possible.

Q: I am asked to enter my full API key on http://goonfleet.net. What do I do?
A: Generally, copy the name of the "recruiter" into a reply to this thread and tell them to go outside. If you want to have a laugh though and troll them, and hopefully see more "recruitment officers", create an API key and select your noob/Jita alt in the "Characters" dialog box (make sure that alt has less than 10M in ISK on balance). Check everything except mail and transaction/wallet journal history. This will seriously screw up their system and give you a good laugh in the chat room.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here but asking for a full API is pretty normal. In our case we use it to look at emails, wallet transactions and the locations of assets to get an sense of whether or not the *facts* support or refute the claims someone is making. Recruiting spies is a major problem in null-sec alliances and as far as I know we've been very lucky, partially, in my opinion, due to a good screening. Everyone in corp benefits from this and up until now refusal to provide a full API has either been a matter of principle (which I can respect but I'm afraid I can't accept) or an attempt to hide something.

Quote:

Q: I am asked to pay a security deposit. Is this legit?
A: Yep, as long as the deposit requested is no more than 0 ISK.

Agreed. Never agree to pay isk to join a corp and never allow them to "move your stuff for you". If they *must* move your stuff because you can't move it yourself then make sure you use courier contracts and that the collateral covers the replacement cost.

Quote:

Q: Will CCP/FBI/CIA/MI-6/MOSSAD/FSB/KGB protect me from the Goon Scam?
A: No.

Some may. I will personally guarantee that in the highly unlikely case that anyone were to be scammed by one of the PFURY recruiters that you will get your money back if you contact me. I, however, have no influence outside of my own corp with respect to people who are scammed. I feel very strongly about this and I would like to help everyone who has this happen to them but I simply don't have the power to make it happen.

It's disgusting to know that there are still people, in this day and age, who try their hardest to ruin what others have collected and gathered.

It's truly, truly disgusting.

OP, please feel free to contact me with information & proof as to the ill behaviour of these individuals, and I will deal with it.

I think you'll have to take a number.

Anyone who has ever been in one of his fleets feels violated... if not for what the fleet did then at least for his incessant talking (not even sure "talking" is the right word), which makes one, as a fully mature adult, wonder what the FK they are doing wrong with their life that they ended up in THIS fleet.

So that's what the deal is lol... this topic even made me even register on these forums! I was looking for a corp yesterday and was comvoed by about 4 people from goonswarm. the first asked me to fill out an app and submit it... then it went "escalated" and i was inform i had to pay a fee wich will be determined later. they also offered to move my proteus for me and when i told them im gonna sell it, they insisted that its a good ratting ship (lol).

i felt that it was kinda fishy paying so i declined the offers and now im here. thanks OP, keep doing what you're doing!
