Goonswarm Recuritment Scam Warning (incl. Epic List of Recruitment Scammers!)

Hello there bros and sis',

The sole purpose of this thread is to aid newbies to avoid the marvellous Goonswarm Recruitment Scam and save their ISKies to buy stuff like ships and modules (or get scammed by someone else in EVE). Right away I'd like to state that I don't personally hate goons, in fact they are good for lulz and killmails, it's that I just either have nothing to do at times with my alts talking to their "recruiters" (while bored, having a beer and a laugh at it).

FAQ or How To Prevent Goons From Owning Your Wallet (and possibly tips on how to own them instead):

Q. How do I identify if I am approached by a legitimate Goonswarm Recruitment Officer from the Recruitment Channel?
A: Look at the alliance name. If it has the word "goon" in it, it's a scam.

Q: I am asked to enter my full API key on http://goonfleet.net. What do I do?
A: Generally, copy the name of the "recruiter" into a reply to this thread and tell them to go outside. If you want to have a laugh though and troll them, and hopefully see more "recruitment officers", create an API key and select your noob/Jita alt in the "Characters" dialog box (make sure that alt has less than 10M in ISK on balance). Check everything except mail and transaction/wallet journal history. This will seriously screw up their system and give you a good laugh in the chat room.

Q: I am asked to pay a security deposit. Is this legit?
A: No.

Q: Will CCP/FBI/CIA/MI-6/MOSSAD/FSB/KGB protect me from the Goon Scam?
A: No.

Last but not least: If any of the above has happened to you, please do everyone a favor and post the name(s) of the "recruiters" in this thread. The goal of this thread is to create a list of every single Goonswarm member and their alts in one single epic thread! The thread has just started and let's make sure it doesn't die!

Inputting a partial api code into our recruitment system does not "seriously screw it up", it just generates an error because the user wasn't smart enough to follow simple directions. A sure way to be rejected from membership.

Of course, GoonSwarm got to be the size it is by scamming every potential recruit it can, after all, and not recruiting anyone. Some goons do scam, and if you're dumb enough to fall for it, well, sorry. Sucks to be that dumb.

Everyone else, we do recruit. We don't recruit idiots (TEST and widot aside). If you get rejected, do what everyone else does and go cry about it on the forums. Surely you were rejected not for your awful post history on the boards or for having joined and left 300 corps in the last month for some reason, it's because the meany goons are all scammers.

This is a funny topic coming from you, of all people, Alice. I guess you're counting on the fact that no one knows just how prolific you are at scamming on your main. I won't ruin your action though.

Who said I even applied in the first place? Last thing on earth would make me apply to Goonswarm. And finally, who said I'm posting from the actual account I troll your scammers from?

I joined Goonswarm from the recruitment channel and they paid back my 500m security deposit - with interest. It was probably financed by the security deposits of failed applicants.
Don't be a spy or a badposter. Apply today.

Shall I link all the threads where you scammed people for ISK on these forums? It will probably take me a week or so though, too bad I don't have that much free time.

I think Goons are beginning to swarm the thread. Can we have all 10K of you come in and post? This will be an epic megathread!!!

By the way, applying with a full API is quite a common thing for wormhole and 0.0 corps, especially if you're going to have access to corporate POSes.

Goonleak: the problem with being an official recruiter is that you are responsible for every person you recruit. If one of them turns out to be a spy or decides to turn coats along the way, even if it's in two years, it is considered your fault and you are also kicked from the corporation (or fined billions, depending on the severity of the crime). Thus, security deposits are standard and recruiters are very careful that they don't allow idiots into the corp.

Right. You keep saying what you are saying, for the rest of us, just google "Goonswarm Scam" and you'll get the picture of the globality of this known scam. I'm sure you Goons are making more than enough ISK from honest folk you scam to keep failed recruiters from being kicked (pay the awox fines etc etc).

FYI the persons listed in the first post all stated that they are an *official recruiter* or *a sub-CEO* (being only a few days old lol). Some of them even have that in their BIOs. And last but not least, the most active recruitment corp is GoonWaffe! So many convos from so many recruiters at the same time that don't even recoginze each other's toon names. Note to self: might as well start posting logs of these gem chats for everyone to lulz at, but not on the official forums ofc.

No. Trolling would imply that you believe that our recruitment is legit (which it is) yet choose to write that it is a scam in order to create feelings of rage in the people who read your post.

Well, the numerous people who feel rage toward goons that scammed them already feel this rage. I am simply warning newbies by answering a few general questions about the scam, as well as facilitating the identification of a known recruitment scammer.

Let all the people you've scammed in the past judge my delusion. And please feel free to keep bumping this thread - the more bumps, teh moar attention! Lol

Everyone knows the goons don't scam and that their recruitment process is safe. Please don't listen to OP and feel free to join the goons who are by far the best corp in the game.

Our "scamming system" simply checks the access code for the correct permissions on the api. If it isn't a specific number, it just returns an error message. There isn't any way you could damage the system simply by entering an invalid code. You aren't making any sense.

Not that I'd expect you to, you aren't the first to come here hoping to damage our reputation, and you won't be the last. At least make up plausible fake war stories about how you totally pwned us in the future.

It's a big corp, and like I said, some people do scam. We can't keep an eye on what everyone is doing both in corp and alliance. I don't know what you expect. Some of our people are skullduggerous motherfuckers, and frankly, that's a good thing for us. What do I care if some dumb pubbie is dumb enough to give all his isk and assets to a guy who promised him he'd do something cool if he did? Doesn't mean the entire corp is founded on scamming.

This thread is not about you my friend. It's about the people I will continue to keep posting in the first post with aid of others. Feel free to put in "goonswarm scam" in the search field above this page and have a stab reading a few topics like this one and this one. :D

Sucks to have this posted when you will probably need all you can get in terms of recruits with the war going on? So why are your alliance members still scamming around? Not enough technetium moons to help people pay for ships lost at war lol?

As a relatively new player, I'd heard of the Goons before I even decided to play this game.

Given the reputation they have, anybody dumb enough to get scammed by them....should probably put their PC back in it's original packaging and send it back to the company they got it from.

They clearly have methods of recruiting new players (as evidenced by their ever increasing numbers) and any Goon wannabe with half a brain could do some googling and figure out how to apply correctly.

Good luck with your crusade, OP. Just out of interest, did you ever get YOUR 500mil back after they rejected you?
