I;m trying to fit a tengu for PvE exclusively. i'm a little torn between the defensive - amplification node or the supplimental screening node. also bear in mid that this is going to be primarily drones and angels i go up against so OMNI TANKING

the sig tanking strat might be a little tricky becuase it requires cap and it would leave me vulnerable to frigates but may work bettter thannks to a 100mn AB. my tank would be primarily resists with a deadspace booster and next to no buffer because extenders add sig radius. naturally i'd use snake implants.

the buffer is pretty self explanitory with 2 large shield extenders and basically just sit there and take the beating and hope my tank holds. not sure if this would work any better but hey, thats why im here

Do you intend to fly with a T1 or T2 Logistics cruiser to support you?

Deadspace booster + no buffer = another highsec suicide gank statistic.

I tank almost every mission with a pure buffer, 10MN ABing Tengu. The sig penalty of LSE + buffer rigs is offset by the AB and common sense piloting (manage ranges, kill webs early, etc.)

PvE in high, low, or null sec?

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

If this is directed at me, high and null.

Welp if you have all your shield skills trained properly you actually don't need much of reps because you'll be speed tanking dmg, the single mission I can say it got once was Angel/Guristas Extravaganza Angel the extra room and Guristas trigger site), one because you land with everything on grid and the second one because I actually killed all frigs to make pop all ships.

Fit at least a small C-type SB, when you'll learn to fly your Tengu you'll cycle it only a couple of times.

For DED 5/6/7 (low/null) I use a B-Type med SB but again because some rooms you just end warp on top or range of scram/web frigs, once those clean I cycle once every 2/3 min to get shields 100%

This also means some pimp, yes you can do with a regular T2 fit but you need a lot of experience. Pimp a little bit your Tengu tank is not "too much", it's a good investment.

in lv 4 missions I fly with 1 deadspace small booster, 1 em, 1 invlun, and 1 lse. puts the ehp up to where it would cost more in tornadoes to kill than my ship can drop in loot. the sig change is pretty small, tbh the sig bloom is bigger from using fury missiles than the LSE.

angles shoot exp missiles, which don't hit all that hard, and with your speed they will miss nearly every time. Haven't really used tengu vs drones much.

If you have good missile and related Tengu skills on top, using Kinetic always does higher dmg than explo on rats, however for pvp this is not always true.

Only time you need to switch missile damage types is to mjoln for EM weak rats. Everything else use kinetic

i actually settled on a sig tank with a gist A 10mn AB and then a pith a shield booster and a pith a shield boost amp. that way i can keep them at a comfortable range but also fly through the thick of it if i feel chancy. seems more fun than orbitting a can with LSE. i also threw a web II on there for the odd frig that makes the mistake of trying to web or scram me. most of my incoming damage will be mitigated due to the fact that i'm like 90km out. the booster is more for security. my cap stability makes it overkill but honestly nothing else to waste my cap on except for target painter. o well.

even against EM weak rats (drones) i'm still going to pack scourge fury heavy for the fact that the bonuses i get from the ejection bay sub makes up for their hole. and if i get jumped i can use the bonus on them.

in closing i find that having control over the range of the battle works better than purely tanking it because you can isolate teh rats from each other by burning outside cruiser/ frig range and the huge mitigation you receive against BS fire due to minimal sig
