Usual experience?

First off, im new. So yeah....

So I was mining with a destroyer and just jetting my minerals for my iteron to pick it up, some dude comes in and steals mine, and every elses right? So I return to my dock, and get out a tristan. Fully loaded I return to my mining field, alas he is gone =/ so I search through the system and finally find him, I quickly lock on turn on my speed disruptor thing, and proceed with firing missiles and lasers. Unfortunately as a brand new player, (newb, noob, idiot) I had no idea what fire power he had, and he destroyed me within seconds. So I return to my base, and get a message. He says "good fight" lol I knew it wasnt. but he continues and gives me advice, pays back for my ship + all the ammo I had with it + some??? and invites me to his Corp...

So I just got one question... is this a usual experience in EVE??

Don't join TEST or Goonswarm. They are pretty fail.

This is typical - corps like that help you learn, don't pass on the opportunity.

There's nothing more valuable in EVE than an enthusiastic newbie. You got can-flipped, but instead of raging, you went out and started plotting revenge. Now, admittedly you were probably massively over matched, but at least you went out there and tried your damnedest.

Now all you have to do is survive the learning curve.

He's a week old at best, nullsec politics bullshit is the furthest thing from his mind. If he was eligible to get into TEST or Goonswarm he wouldn't be out in highsec, their newbees podjump out to nullsec on day one.

But if we're playing this stupid forum game, don't join -A-, they don't have a future.

This, even as a hated 'pubbie' mining corp i rejoiced the day my pilots lost two retrievers to a hurricane and immediately set about hunting him down in rifters.

You'll go far in this game, you have the right attitude.

You passed the first test with flying colors... you undocked and D.I.A.F (died in a fire). That seriously earns a lot of respect in this game. Losing your first ship always hurts, but you kept it together. EvE is all about kill and be killed. Also, I find it to be a very common practice for the experienced players to reimburse new player who show promise. You will do just fine. Now learn all that you can about EvE, and Never let your skill training sit idle.

You went and fought him against the odds instead of bitching about the theft in local

This is looked upon very favourably by most people

There should be a rather awesome pic here

Honestly no it's really not the usual eve experience. The usual Eve experience would be after killing you, your attacker would then try to harvest your tears. But then again, you are not the usual noob. When your **** got stolen you did not cry and moan, making the tear extraction easy for your aggressor. Instead you found your balls (or your metaphorical balls if you're a lady), hardened the f*ck up, and went to get your belongings back. That is admirable, and that is why you had such a positive experience.

Welcome to your new home friend, you will fit in well in New Eden.
