Anyone play this? Loving it atm, I'd say it's as brutal, if not more brutal than Eve.

1 life, Zombies and other survivors willing to gun your ass down through shear paranoia or because it's funny. Or, they want your can of beans.

I'll quote a funny example from a story I read on the forum.

Quote:
Hi im noob here.
I was playing this mod 5 times and for 8h already. The only conclusion I have reached is that the real world is ****** up.

There was a guy runing from zombies, i helped him, shoot all zombies, healed him and he just shot me after that in my face.
There was a guy in fire station, swarmed with zombies, he was trying to shoot back, i ran in started shooting zombies, he saw me doing this, when i was healing my self he shot me...
I met a hungry dude, he was hungry, i gave him my last tincan, the he shot me in the back.
There was a dude he had lost his gun, i gave him my secondary, that second he shot me.
I was in wood, met guy with bad blood lost, i gave gim blood refill, he shot me after 2 min.

Is it me, or this world is going no where... I was dreaming about people helping eatch other, clearing zombies, fighting to survie together, all i get is shots to my face.

I found this rather amusing.

You know what the sad part is? I totally would expect that attitude in real life should there ever be a zombie apocalypse. Trust me, I'd be avoiding the live ones far more than the walking dead.

When Dayz first came out, more people worked together. It was cool to see survival camps with guards and patrols.

Now, it's turned into a single player game on a multiplayer server.

Only fun in a passworded server with friends.

As far as real life, I worked in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan, Katrina, and the Alabama tornadoes of 2011. There's still some human spirit out there, but the media tends to focus on a few who are morons because it's dramatic and garners viewers and ratings. Hollywood follows and the weak minded general public accepts it as gospel.

I thought the exact thing today.

The thing is, while a lot of it is pure selfishness, I'd wager that a lot of it is pure paranoia.

Some guy walking towards your location with a gun? Safest thing to do is shoot him. You can hide ofc, but likely hood is, he'd be looking for goodies and find you. Run? You'd get heared/seen and shot in the back.

BUT, it's not something you can really complain about, it's pot calling the kettle black, the same stuff happens in Eve.

That's true that some people worked together, but I don't think it's a single player game, not at all. You just need someone to play with that you trust. It's far from a single player though, the danger of the game is the other people, not the zombies.

Haha yeh, I did the same thing but with some stun grenade, I didn't even know I had it, but it really hurt my ears IRL too, this nasty nasty ringing. You can imagine the amount of zombies that came running.

I did however find a bus earlier! That was fun, though it was night time and raining and I managed to get it stuck and a wheel fell off.

Controls are a little awkward though

I play with several member of the corp from time to time, and people tend to trust you more when you're already in a group and chatting with each other some. Plus no one wants to pick a firefight when they're outnumbered so badly. It's a great way to set some people up and steal all their stuff.

As for real life: Day Z isn't. In real life I'd be out there trying to pull together any survivors I could and build some sort of permanent community. In a zombie apocalypse, I'm quite confident I'd find my way to leadership simply because I have some very useful survival skills and a good mind for organization.

We do what we do in games because it's NOT REAL. I can shoot you in the face and know with 100% certainty that you'll respawn. I have no reason to be inhibited there.

I've been playing it since 1.5 and for a while it was probably the only game that would get me to not log into Eve.

I've survived for about 2-3 weeks now, mostly surviving solo, but joined up with a few people recently.
its a whole different game when you group up with people who are self sufficient.

it's really a good experience, but once you get a camp, get a few vehicles/choppers, its quite end game, you can only really run around shooting people for fun.
Also, once you have NVGs - night servers become yours, they are usually always low population, and no one distrubs you while you farm all the good loot

Dont mind me,  just touching your stuff.

I would totally expect that behavior as well in a zombie apocalypse scenario. But the problem I would have is that greeting people would be like playing a game of Russian Roulette. Will they be excited to see you and welcome you into their band of like minded survivors or will they be excited to see you because they need another slave or will they be excited to see you because that can of beans looks real good.

Just remember that people are quite adept at breaking the law as it is. Now imagine what they'll be capable of when they realize nobody is around to uphold the law.

game is fun and addictive, but your mileage will vary, meaning some people may play it for two weeks others for 1 month. But it'll get old fast.

What's needed is a stand alone game built from the ground up to do this stuff, add in the ability to build barricades and/or structures and group properly etc, punish bandits.

oh and a sandbox persistent world, instead of limited number servers.

Selfishness and Self Preservation have no border, but borders are created because of them.

2 things to always remember; what you do isn't necessarily what the man next to you would do. And if you can think of it, chances are someone else has also.

The mod is free (DayZ is an Arma II mod), the base game still costs money.

The game is much more like EVE. If you play alone, it is just plain boring, so you need extra fun to get playing (scam/kill others)

But if you get enough friends, then the most fun is the team work, and after some time you are the king of the hill, and all the stuff is always the same.

What this game needs is a single server, persistent world. Then that would be awesome.

God, now i'm trying to transform all the MMOs in EVE Clones.

Don't know if good... or not.

So, I played this game with a group of 7 people. Had a helicopter, a military truck and a bus. Apparently one of our guys was streaming and somebody decided to watch the stream and kill us all. Well he killed a couple of us. The heli and the truck died almost simultaineously in a blaze of glory.

A couple minutes later, a hacker teleported everyone to a spot and killed everyone. (he waited until all of our vehicles were destroyed, apprently those teleport hacks dont work if u r in a vehicle)

None of us would have died had one of our guys not accidentaly jumped out of the heli and stopped us in town.

At the time it all happened, I almost raeg quit to play an easier game called Eve Online. Turns out, that stream sniper recorded it and put it on youtube.

I watched it and it was hilarious!

would do it AGAIN!
