I am in a Vexxor and will soon push for a Thorax. I understand that frigates can be a bit pesky to deal with in larger ships. What are some good ways to counter this against players a bit more experienced than myself?

I already assume that stasis webifiers and ecm equipment will be of benefit

Scram + web + neut is also extremely effective.

Nice totally disregarded the drone capacity for larger ships. I currently can use max 4 drones (light scout and other type defense I cant think of the name).

How about weaponry? I use medium Hybrid Rails at the moment but tracking a fast mover will be a hassle.

Completely untrue. An experiened frigate pilot will easily get rid of your T2 damage drones.

Neuts (medium) + web are your best bet.

You missed the fine print:
Frigate veteran = bye, bye drones.

Just sayin' Lol

The only drone that will reliably mess up a frigate is the EC-XXX drones, new webifier drones may work but have not encountered them yet so can't really say. Combat drones work well enough as distractions or against people not used to frigates.

Assuming you want to be able to use the ship against more than just frigs:
Your best bet is to use T2 small rails* and a neut or two on the Vexor or lowest tier (highest tracking) medium blasters + neut on Thorax (kiters like Slicers will be tricky though) .. add mandatory web for frig hunting and you should be set.
* Small rails give you range against kiters and should have just enough tracking with web + manoeuvring + drones close in to make him gone, dead or otherwise.

Edit: Neut = Neutralizer. Kill the enemy's cap at expense of portion of your own.

if you're in a vexor or a thorax and this is your drone situation the best thing you can do is train cruiser 4, and then spend a week training drone skills.

Good input guys. Ive been using mid hybrid turrets because I got tunnel vision as soon as I got my cruiser, thinking I needed bigger guns to suit the ship. And right about Neuts, didnt think of crippling someones output. I was so focused on limiting their locking capabilities and manuevering. Thanks all!

I fly almost exclusively frigates and the cruisers that really screw me over are the ones that fit neutralisers. Try flying aligned to something with your neuts on. When he loses the cap for the scram you can activate your MWD. This build distance and lowers the tracking you need to hit him.

Having a rack of ECM drones on the Thorax is just as good.

Thorax: ec-xxx drones. If you're shield tanked, get some range (4-6km) so your ship can hit the frig. Usually he'll be slower than your mwd. (He is likely jammed so your mwd will not be shut off. If you can't hit him, warp off).

Vexor: Use Energy Nuetralizer in spare high slot. Drones will do the rest.

In both cases, if you are max armor tanked (1600mm plate), mounting light neutrons or 150mm rails really helps as well. So does a web. If you are shield tanked, keep the medium guns and put some tracking enhancers in the lows.

Finally, "keep at range" against smaller targets. Don't orbit.

If your useing a vexor drones would be enougth to kill a frig, just pull the drone that he starts shooting....

Being in Gall FW, I fly Comets like its going out of style, and the cruisers that always tear me up are Ruptures/SFI's. Even when I get an orbit in <2000m, their guns will still hit me. Not necessarily hard, but hard enough that I can't tank it. 220's will destroy me in no time, 425's are somewhat more manageable, but I'll cap out eventually running the rep.

I'm not trying to solo these cruisers obviously, but if I tackle one for a small gang, they're gunning for me.

I am going to use a thorax as my main pvp ship unless I can train and afford something better soon. Good weapons for those are hybrid turrets I expect?
