This weekend there were no less than FOURTEEN teams that were completely shut down and dunked on, walking out humiliated with zero points. This is going to make it much harder for these teams to advance to the group stages. Which of these teams were you most surprised to see fail so hard? Which of the winners surprised you the most?

Solar Fleet. The outcome wasn't that surprising considering the fact that they A: did not bring any ECCM, and B: were against a team heavily focused on ECM. I just hoped they would have done better as their set-up was one used by many teams.

TEST. Given the fact that they are one of the major alliances in CFC, I expected them to do better. Maybe it just wasn't working out for them, but I did not expect a complete shutout loss.

Red vs Blue. Not the fact that they won, to be honest. They are a true PvP alliance after all, but the speed was a welcome surprise. The poor Scimi of Get Off My Lawn lasted for a whole 2 seconds before it was turned into dust.

Darkside. I really expected Razor to be the victor here. They had more ECM abilities than Darkside, but it just didn't work out for them somehow.

You heard it here first, guys. If you're a member of the CFC you're good at small gang warfare, or supposed to be.

No, no. Don't get me wrong. I know most CFC alliances are not accustomed to small gang warfare. But given the fact that they are this large, one would expect that they would be able to field a team that is still specialized in this. Perhaps a niche-corp in their alliance specializing in small-gang warfare. If the Goons can do this (field a proper small-gang warfare team), why can't Test?

my favortie match so far is the Suddenly Spaceships match where it was Vindi, cyclone, scimitar + cpl frigates vs 3x Talos, scimitar, frigates.

The match started and the vindi was instantly into 10% shield.. idk if they were overloading the blasters on the talos' but if they werent that was an error on their part. If they had killed that VIndi in the first 20 seconds of the match the outocme would have been waaay different. I loved the match, but blaster vs blaster is always amazing. I was screaming in my head to overload :P

I also enjoyed the sledgehammer as Raivi called it that PL brought with their Sleipnir 3x Cyclone team huge DPS no logi just shredded everything

The Bunnies winning vs. that Macherial setup was a surprise.

A very, very nice betting odds surprise Cool

I was surprised and disappointed that Solar Fleet brought such a stupid unoriginal lazy predictable setup, I expected more from them..

Other than that, was very surprised Manifest Destiny lost, let alone with 0 points.

My favorite moment this weekend:

Dual
active-tanked
machariels
(unironically) for the win.

Once I saw armor and shield repping simultaneously I was like, oh god please let them win. It's like getting a humiliation kill. I could almost hear the "HUMILIATION" voice from Quake3 when R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N pulled it off. It wasn't against scrubs either, RED.Overlord is a decent team. It was wonderful.

having "observed" a number of test tests i was rather surprised they brought the setup they did and that they lost.

This may be our last one. Tourney isn't about the best fleets with the best pilots. It's about the best spying and hacks. Things we don't care to take part in. It was fun to be there again this year and fight it's just no fun going into your match with the other teams knowing what you are gonna do.

Good call. its sad when you loose while bring such a powerful team as....

Huginn

Tornado

Tornado

Hawk

Hawk

Hawk

WHAT THE HELL DID YOU EXPECT TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU BRING A SET UP LIKE THAT???

Seriously. please explain how this team you fielded at all qualifies as 'the best fleet' I have no idea how you thought Tier 3 BCs with assault frigs AND NO LOGISTICS was possibly a good idea. What did you possibly think it would beat? Did you even try and test this, or EFT it about an hour before the match started??

And by hacks, do you mean the part where you were silly enough to train in a black hole?

Confirming.

Also confirming that testing a setup 1 hour before the tourny for the first time and losing it to the exact same team we fielded is utter genius innovation.
