Wow there's a lot of dumb in this thread.

To OP; Pretty sure neither of your examples is allowed.

Thanx Tyrrax.

Now that I think about it a bit more I think your first example is not specifically forbidden, but both are discouraged and you risk a tourney dev getting angry about collusion / non-entertaining matches. (basically what happened to Hydra/0utbreak)

From the official rules;

"For Alliance Tournament X the referees can call a match null and void or declare a result if they believe that one of the teams is not competing. This tournament is designed to showcase the talents of pilots and should be entertaining."

There's also this version of it in a devblog which is slightly different;

"Alliance Tournament referees can now call a match null and void or declare a result if they feel a team is not competing or throwing a game. This will be entirely at the discretion of the tournament referees."

Technically if the match isn't actually over then self-destructing ships could be interpreted as "not competing" or "throwing a game" and the referees kick you out of the tournament.
Also just because you claim it's pure business and that you're just making ISK to sell points, CCP has no way of knowing this and could easily decide you're exactly like Hydrabreak and just hid it better until that point.

That said you can probably break these rules very easily without getting caught if you're not super dumb, since I am super dumb I'm not going to take any risks personally ))

Please refrain from continuing to tar us with the same brush you use to paint hydra with. Although unhappy about the outcome, we have accepted it and moved on. If hydra chose to continue to voice their opinions/complain then that is up to them. We explained our relationship with Hydra, you can believe it or chose not too, either way that is your prerogative. We are separate entity's, please treat us as such.

to the op, I would suggest that whatever you do, please be careful as the match judge can indeed terminate the fight if he/she feels that the fight is rigged or un-entertaining.

Good luck to you and everyone else that is participating. Hopefully we will see you on the field next year.

I really should come up with far more inflammatory titles for my threads.Sad

In any case, the point that OP raises is a real issue. If a team knows they can no longer score additional points, it's to their favor to aid the opposing team in order to elevate the opponent's rank, which is used to determine tie-breaks.

TL;DR: There is no penalty for letting your team members die. Regardless of whether the "no match fixing" rule is tripped, there should be a penalty in ranking for losing ships to your opponent.
