similar to a super carrier but u must fit ur own frigates to launch. if it were adopted, i can see a number of mandated limitations but it'd b cool as hell.

edit* mebbe have to hire npc pilots; skill levels 1-5 in any myriad mix of skills and assigning/fitting that frig given their skills.

imo, the carriers that we have already should be tweaked so that they no longer have fighters but instead act as mobile repair and refuel stations for other player's ships. Ability to dock inside them is a must.

The way carriers are now is just silly.

Whether or not you win the game matters not.  It's if you bought it.

How would this be balanced?
Why a new ship for a feature that can be implemented on existing carriers?

much testing would need to b done to balance it.
i like my carrier the way it is. also, i think it would b fun to chuck out self fitted frigate drones. a lil bit of ur own loving creativity in each one=drone babies. awwww

A LOOOOOOOOONG time ago someone brought up the idea of "Hive Ships"... an idea where other players could dock inside a massive ship piloted by another player.

A DEV made a VERY rare appearance and an even rarer "serious post" regarding the subject. Basically, something in the "original coding" of EVE rejects multiple players being in the same ship at the same time. Dunno if they ever found a way around that issue after all this time (this was before the DEV implemented CREST).

i listened to a morsus mihi player commentate while in the same pod with a dial-up phone sextitute. i know it's possible to get more than 1 person in a ship. she almost sat on his self-destruct button.

too, anything is possible in a videogame. rewrite some code and done=50 peeps in the same ship.

i'm just an old man with a lot of mmo experience. many a comment or idea that was shot down as "unpossible" by a forum poster(wacky cynics) has been later made possible in a few of them zaney mmo's.

I would VERY much like to be able to dock on someone else's supercarrier, that would be soo cool :D

I never said it was "unpossible." I simply said the code rejected multiple players being the same ship at the same time.

And while I do agree with you that "breakthroughs" are sometimes made when before they were not... but until someone from CCP says otherwise the problem still stands.

I like the idea of using fitted frigs as fighters.

"Launching my Dramiel wing". sounds interessting.

How you could change Motherships:

- make it anchorable (granting a "pos"-shield; less diamatre, fuel needed ofc and so on).
- make the "stationary mothership shield module" f***king expensive
- if shields getting hit the pilot of the ms can chose to drop the shield-mod. for the ability to jump

- introduce new highslot-modules
- public repair shop
- public science slots (i r stealin' your bpo!)
- public industry slots (very limited space (volume)
- and so on

If someone knows the ff-pw and is withing 2,5 km of the "stationary mothership" he can hit the "dock-button" which "towes" his ship into a parking position and enable the pilot access to the "station service panel".

For a nomadic trader (i totaly love this idea since the nyx was introduced) i´d also need a "public market module"


EDIT:

Idea for an extension:

Give the rorqual a module that allows to link up (physically) with a "stationary mothership" giving better recycle-numbers.

Why not leave the carriers the way they are and implement a Fleet Logistics Ship that would be able to send resupply drones to the forward edge of the battle where they would resupply you with batteries, ammo, etc.

kind of like new jump freighters, with fitting services, corp hangar and shait? like a non-combat titan? (well, it is combat, well tanked, no firepower)

the only thing i fear is the fact that it would simply be abused for safest way to transport things :\
