That is correct. If you disconnect but the ewarp is caught by the bubble, the player will be able to log back in and continue the match.

If this was also meant to be the case for the first round then surely we kind of got screwed by the dev not putting the bubble up?

As I covered earlier, at present the bubble is put up when the match begins. As the effected player disconnected before the match began, their ewarp was not caught by the bubble.

Is it legit to ask for a countdown stop if you see a team member disconnecting?
Or as soon as it started there's no recount option?

If you watch the match, his e-warp doesn't start until 12 seconds into the match. For those 12 seconds he's sitting with 0 velocity. Surely he would have been stopped by the bubble if there was one up?

What happens in the crazy hypothetical scenario that someone fits an Interdiction Nullifier to their Tech 3 ship? Big smile

Then not only are they giving up precious slots but also giving up the ability for the one thing that can save them, during a D/C, from working.

TL:DR - They are screwed, Stuff happens.

E-warp ignores bubbles. He logged out while unaggressed, so 1 minute later he was going to warp come hell or high water. If he was aggressed they could have kept shooting him to extend his timer, but you cannot extend the timer of a pilot who has already logged out while unaggressed.

The rules around ewarp are strange, and the code even stranger.

The warp bubble being activated is an automatic process, for anyone who's thinking this was referee error. So the good news is, if it's broken in some way, it was broken for everyone.

In any case, the rule is ships that ewarp out go boom. Sucks but that's what happened.

Now, the good news. As I was looking through the code wrapping my head around the sequence of events, I found a very simple switch I can pull that kills all emergency warps in the tournament system. Very similar to the way I killed the entrance-warp when y'all get moved into system.

The downside to that is that disconnects pre-match will be much less noticeable from our end. Worth the trade off?

Absolutely.

Of course, when a disconnected ship fails to fire and remains motionless, our dauntless commentators will notice and report this. Bear

It's definitely worth the trade off, it gives the player a second chance in competing. If he doesn't log back in on time, his ship will be blown up by the other team anyway.

yea its worth the trade off. if you want to have your cake an eat it too. you can have the gms go back to being in fleet and if they see some one leave fleet once theyve been moved its probably a disconnect.

Well, neither raivi or I caught the disconnect pre-match anyways, even with an e-warp.

If he didn't log back in until after the match, why explode his ship, he's just on an empty grid and needs moving home, no? AKA why not reimburse it and any lost SP (assuming you haven't)?

Unless you fear some team pulling a logoffski to try save a flagship before the match starts or something like that???

We don't care about reimbursement for the ship or SP but it's pretty clear the mechanics have been changed (for the better) as a result of what happened to us in the fight. We'd be moaning about a rematch but it's not exactly fair on Tribal Conclave who were good sports and did nothing wrong and any other arrangement (say a rematch where Tribal keep their points) would no doubt become unfair to everyone else in the tournament and set a precedent.

At the end of the day kudos to CCP for fixing this issue, just kind of happened a bit late for us. We got some points at least so we'll try and qualify regardless.

Will stop filling up the forums with butthurt now, cheers to Veritas for the responses.

Curses, i had a twenty two paragraph flamefest all ready to be released and he has to go be all reasonable about it P

Seriously though thanks to the devs for being so open on this issue, hopefully we'll still be able to progress in the AT regardless.
